thanks will give that a go, hadnt thought of that Smile I was tempted to try other cleaning products but figured i would ask the people that have the same problem as me...I asked the store i bought her from and the lady was no help as they only use them for displaying hats etc on, so just dust them off or use a damp cloth. I think i freaked her out when i told her what i use Louise for (my heads name is louise Smile ) lol

You have to be careful of acetone with manicures. Learned that the hard way.

I have 99% alcohol which gets a lot of it off, but not back to "new". We also have these chemical sponges called "Magic Erasers". The super powered ones work well but again, watch the manicure.

100% Acetone is the only thing that consistently works for me - both practice head with very different types of "skin"

Others have already mentioned it, but 100% acetone worked wonders on my practice head. It even completely erased Wolfe black - and that's really saying something.

I will look for acetone, thanks all for the suggestion. I tried 90% alcohol but that didn't take out the dark green that managed to stain right through the barrier layer of hairspray I put on AND a base coat of metallic gold. Now my poor head has a faint green spot right in the middle of her forehead.

The acetone is great, someone suggested goof off too, have not tried it. I don't have my nails done, so no worries here! 100% acetone is cheap at Walmart or the beauty suppliy.

Oh, no idea, but that would be a place to start! Here, it is only a little more than $2.00 a bottle. Wish we could ship you some! Any place that supplies manicure supplies too, would probably sell it.

Has anyone tried this stuff (gloves in a bottle) on their head before painting? Seems as it might provide a protective layer. Curious...

Haven't tried anything but pretreat with hairspray. Avon had some cream called "Silicone Glove" that was pretty good to put on your hands before crafting or gardening to minimize staining. May be similiar but my practice head is too slippery already compared to skin. Would be careful if there is silicone. Seems like it would make it harder to paint on.

I have a $4 styro head that I painted with wall paint and she stains too. I just put a coat of spray paint on her when she gets really stained. I ruined my first one by trying to spray paint her... yup, she melted! I got another one and put about 4 coats of soft pink(which I had) wall paint on her to give that smooth finish. Not perfect but really cheap. I keep a flowered head band on her so she's not bald. LOL! I call her Synthia cuz she syntectic (sp?).
BTW- I use orange oil cleaner in between spray painting her.

Blue-White Soap

I don't know about heads, but I use blue-white soap to wash my brushes and sponges and also my face and hands when I paint myself.
