small carnival

Post by eva on Mon May 11, 2009 10:37 pm

I painted with my partner at a small carnival this weekend. It rained all night friday. Not one customer. WIndstorm broke my tent. But saturday was great busy all night at 5 a face .It was really incouraging. I had a collage poster made at meijer/snapfish online with the business title and 21 pics. Turned out fabulous for 20 dollars(pics clear and poster nice thick quality) and the customers seemed really impressed to the quality of the framed collage poster. passed around laminated books for them to look at too. Worked great.

I am trying a flea market for the first time. Wish me luck!

BTW I think snaz silver isn't very good. Any ideas what to do with ?

Congrats on the event ending on a good note! Sorry to hear about the storm and your tent though. The poster menu sounds awesome!

I like the idea of a poster board but I keep changing my pictures. I really don't do a recurring event and change my pictures to customize to the type and theme of event and amount of guests. I read somewhere that someone had a poster of clear pockets that was made for trading cards so they could switch out pictures. That would work better for me. At the time I searched online for one but couldn't find it. Think I'll look again.

My poster has a general array of pics, then the small laminated pics on rings I can change out anytime. I know I may change the poster in the future, but they are like 10 with shipping thru costco. I just needed something I could use for the rest of the year. The smaller posters are like 3.99 plus ship so I may make a few of those in themes to keep handy for smaller parties.

I feel like I'm constantly making up picture boards to fit different events and they are so time consuming. I finally decided to start velcroing the pictures to make it easier for me to switch out my pictures.

I have a plastic A-frame "sandwich board" type sign that I velcro laminated 4" x 6" photos to. That way I can switch out designs quickly. Also if I come up with a new design I can add it quickly rather than make up a whole new poster. If the design tanks........I just pull it off and replace it with another.
One the other side I have a bigger sign about face paint safety and that I use only FDA complient products for the skin.....no craft paint.

I bought some thin composite boards and painted them black. I then attached Industrial strength velco in strips and spaced them about 5 inches apart. I then laminated my pictures and place velco on them and I can place 25 pictures on one board. Works great for me.

If you go to Micheals, or AC Moore which are craft stores, they have the frame department which has the trading card frames. they cost about 25 bucks (on sale or with coupon) and hold about 30 or 35 trading card size cards. Each card holder can be changed independently.

Or if you like to use 4x6 picks, you can get a large frame almost poster size from IKEA that have about 16 or 20 4x6 cut outs that you can place your pics behind the cutout. This is a really cool display. The frame at IKEA costs about 25 bucks.
