HappyVickery I do this all the time but it helps me figure out what I want to do next time and how to layer the paint better for each new design its the only way I can learn really. I really love the combo of the yellow and blue. Great Job.

Wow, I missed this thread a few days and it has exploded! What a variety of dolphins. Very inspiring. I like how everybody has their own spin.
I practised 2 dolphins on my arm (see facebook PaintingPleasure), but now I'm thinking about a face design. I need a lot of practise.

Re: Post Submissions Here!

Post by Mizzzard on Sat Jun 11, 2011 8:47 pm

Ok so I figured out what i wanted to put on the forehead of my design lol it's actually the pinstriping from the front of my husband's tow truck. I was walking by and it was right at eye level and all i could think was "that would look lovely on someone's forehead!" so i played around with it on my leg to figure out how to execute it but my daughter is already in bed. I was going to put it off till tomorrow but got sick of listening to my husband's scanner so i locked myself in the bathroom with a dean martin cd so now you'll just have to take a gander at my mug lol

I couldn't get the "tiara" piece just right on myself unfortunately but you get the idea. i think it looks much better this way than the original submission. In other words, Mandi, feel free to say "told ya so" lol Smile

It looks better in person i think i need to invest in an actual camera. In the picture the tear drops look smushed together but they aren't in real life except the ones on the end...but those are suppose to overlap i swear lol

You rock Mandi Smile

second attempt at dolphin challenge

Post by caro on Sun Jun 12, 2011 1:37 am

Your pictures and fotos in a slideshow on MySpace, eBay, Facebook or your website!view all pictures of this slideshow

I had so much fun attempting my first challenge today I thought I'd have another go! thankfully my little girl was cooperative and an amazing model.

This design is inspired by a design of Bec Anthonys that I learnt during one of her courses.

What I used:
Paints: Snazaroo sparkle yellow, sparkle orange, TAG pearl rose, black & white, pearl pink, TAG hologrpahic glitter
Brushes: size 4 round, size 4 renoir (for flowers) & a sponge

Step by step:
1. lay down yellow, orange and pink with sponge and blend into each other
2. add white eye pattern on one side
3. add clouds, sun and water ripple in white on other side and lipstick colour
4. add tropical scene (palm trees) and dolphins in black
5. put more black dolphins as eye designs
6. add seagulls
7. add flowers with renoir brush, do this by double loading first white, then the tip with pink. lay the tip of the brush at the centre of the flower and then lay brush down to create petal effect
8. add white highlights (dots, starbursts etc)
9. add TAG holographic glitter on eyelids and dolphins
