Pashur workshop yesterday

Post by Jody Rife on Fri Jun 03, 2011 9:07 am

Well, I had a great workshop yesterday. Pashur is not only an amazing artist but an amazing teacher. I learned so much but the main thing that I learned is, how much I really don't know! So glad to finally be taught specific techniques on things as simple as lines, dots and teardrops! I think I have been making things harder than they really are. If he ever comes to your area, definitely check out his classes. Smile

Pashur is an amazing teacher and a really fantastic person to boot. His style is inspiring but I am always most taken with his warmth and sincerity. If it wasn't for him I would have turned my back on the body painting community after a very bad experience with another "pro". He talked with me and helped me see it was worth sticking around.

OK gals, here are a few pics of my favorite things from the class. Most of the stuff I did was a bit stinky but all a learning experience so I am cool with that.

This was a beautiful eye design he did. He makes it look so easy.

This was my personal favorite, the glitterfairy! You can buy the wingless fairies tat from him on his website then add you some cool wings and Voila!

The flaming heart and eyeballs were fun, these are ones I did, Since I have never done REAL flames, I was pretty tickled to learn how.

OMG! That is the EXACT same fairy he did at FABAIC! LMAO It's nice to be practiced.
Glimmer Tattoo Supplies (they do a lot of stencils) have 3 different "wingless" fairies. I have two of them and they go over really well.

I adore that eye design!

Here are the photos from his FABAIC class (my friend Amber was one of the models in it):
A nifty idea involving the butterfly glitter tats

And that fairy flew with him Wink

Cool Lynnie, I am excited to try the glitter tats. I have zero experience there. Thankyou Daizy, My eyeball is a little odd shaped but I am gonna get in some practice today at a huge event. Smile

Pashurs marketing idea with the glitter fairy was just genious! If you are at a festival, you do the glitter body, paint the wings and it's awesome! Most of these are 3 day events...tHE CLIENT HAS TO KEEP COMING BACK FOR WINGS! The fairy does not wash off but the facepaint does, so you just charge them half price to paint wings on it again!!!!! BRILLIANT!! LOL

And I don't think anything you did was even remotely stinky! It actually went into my 'inpsire' file! Good job!

Jody they are all awesome, but the first one the eye design is really awesome. I love the design, colors, and line work. I am so kicking myself for not selling a kidney to go.

Hey Jody,

Few questions. Did he paint the wings with more than one blue? Did he put the glitter on right after paint or did he use glitter glue. It is so well concentrated in those areas I was just curious? Sorry for all the questions still learning. Thanks

Hey Jody,
I've seen Pashur do the fairy a few times so I can probably tell you. He paints a background color and then highlights the tips with a darker shade. The glitter on the tips is applied with a damp (not dripping) brush that is dipped in glitter and applied to the black by laying it on and reactivating the paint enough to stick the glitter. You don't have to keep getting the brush wet, just pick up more glitter and lay it on.

If Pashur comes to your area you should go. I especially love learning about his line work and shading techniques. The classes are usually a great value. Like the one I took in SLC was all day and only $100 or $125...something like that. Especially as a new painter it will set you on the right track.

BTW...I'm ticked that I took the butterflies pictured off my recent Glimmer order. Grrrr. I shall harass Pashur for not doing this sooner! Love, love.
