Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
I bought the Mama Clown sampler when I was just getting started and I agree with Metina that you really don't need all those colors. All it really does is slow me down because they want to pick a color. I'd just stick with the white irridescent if I had it to do over.
I am determined to gradually use it up though instead of buying more. I did find some of the bottles by themselves at Hobby Lobby and used a funnel to put glitter in them to make my own poofer bottle. There were 3 in the pack and they were like $3 I think. They were in the art department by where the nice artist's paint is. I'm sure Michael's would have them too. They even came with the metal tip that you can attach to them that look exactly like the Amerikan Body Art / Graffiti Glitter gels. If you want a "lighter" poof then you could use the tip. I've had no problem with the size of the opening and using them to poof though.
haha-- that last sentence wouldn't make any sense to anyone but us.

I've noticed that the poof glitter mostly poofs away unless the paint is wet. Does anyone here mist before poofing?

I find the same thing so I try to poof before I do line work or details. And I usually forget so I do mist then poof if I feel like it. If time is an issue, I don't worry about the misting. The light poof is really good enough and the kids won't notice any difference.

I like the poofer in my kit as well. The soft plastic can withstand a knock off the table and is always at the ready. I also love the glitter brush that Lisa Rickels sells as there is more glitter control and less waste.
I have refilled my poofer several times! It really does poof nicely but it does tend to spread the "magic" on everyone and everywhere!!!!
I agree with others here - better to glitter esp. if using the poofer before you put in your line work as it will cover your work. Also, I am guilty of "poofing" something I don't love when the paint is still pretty wet to disguise it somewhat......and then revive it a little.

Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
I don't poof anymore... aside from it hurting (RSI!!) I find using a small screw top pot with a small sponge tipped applicator works really well for me. AND I only offer them two choices of colours - holo white and gold... sometimes if I feel generous I'll put out pink and silver too.
I used to let them choose from 24 colours but it took them ages - now they don't get much choice and things move along much faster!

Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
I have about six colors of glitter and I decide which to apply based on the colors in the design. The paint is usually still a little damp by the time I'm ready to apply glitter. I'm with you Wyndy, in that I do feel relief sometimes that I have the option of "helping" out a less-than-stellar job with the aid of glitter! I can almost hear myself whispering "It's okay, it's okay, I still have the glitter...".
Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
*lol* In makeup school they actually learned us we could use glitter to cover our mistakes, so a long time when I saw a design with glitter all over I thought: wow, the artist must have had a bad day ;-)

WendyO - Do you have a link to Lisa Ricketts? I want to check out the glitter brush. Thanks.

Hi Cassandra! Here is Lisa's web address - you can see the blushy powder brushes down near the bottom. There are great when you are in a hurry and don't want to be "poofing" all over the place.

Have you purchased one that is prefilled with shimmer or did you buy it empty and fill it yourself. Just wondering what her shimmer is like.

Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
Cassandra - I have done it both ways..... works great either way. Her product quality is excellent - Mark Reid even used her glitter gel for his LaFete work and Nora Susko (my fast paint - move the line hero!) loves it!!!!
Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
From working in the heat, I have been forced to put the glitter ASAP and realized that it looks much nicer to NOt have the glitter on the line work, dots, and stars. And yes, thanks so much for glitter to cover the little oops!
Princess Meg, if you want to lighten your load, don't forget about the Swap Shop. I am sure there is a tackle tart or two on here that will gladly take some of that glitter off your hands.

Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
I'm still on the fence about poof glitter. I watched a glitter tattoo video of Sillyheather's on youtube, and she used the poof glitter on it. It looked like a TON of glitter came out. I feel like I would squeeze the bottle and dump half the bottle on the child's face.
Maybe I'll take Angie's recommendation and try Chit-Chat's site. I think I'd like to be able to control the size of the hole in the bottle. Any colours you would recommend, Angie? I'm fully stocked with glitter right now.. but it won't last forever!

Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
Wendy - do you ever have issues with the bristles smearing wet paint? Or are you using it over a base before line work?
