WOlfe VS DFX for Metallic/Neon Pallette

Post by cattsy on Sat Jun 18, 2011 9:14 pm

I'm wanting to buy a metallic/neon pallette.

THere is the Wolfe one, which I think has less paint? and I'm not completely sold on the square cakes. But the Wolfe one is only $40.

The DFX one looks bigger, and I have heard such great things about the DFX metallic paints, but also people say that DFX and Wolfe are pretty much interchangeable?

I have to buy a whole bunch of stuff, restock my paradise and a few other things

I bought my DFX mettalics in the 32 g size and used them for splits (tricky, but doable) b/c I felt that the sample palettes had nowhere near enough paint.

The good news is that I personally think that you can get away with fewer mettalic colors. Adding glitter to regular colors make paint 'metallic'.

If I was doing it over again I'd just buy the old gold, the red (comes out a super pretty pink), and the lighter/olive green b/c they make AMAZING designs and are not 'just add glitter colors'.

I personally don't care for the neons anymore b/c of the 'for special effects' only label.

I'm not going to be using the neons on kids Smile My motivation for wanting the Neons is purely because I'm a raver and I love anything that glows :p

What kind of glitter do you use?

People still go to raves?? I find that interesting, I haven't heard anything about those in years.

I love my metallics... I think I would use them about 80% of the time.
I have the DFX Metallic Palette and I love love love it! I think Metallics add that extra pop that makes the paintings really stand out. I still put a bit of glitter in places but not usually over the whole thing or the design tends to get lost. The glitter usually wears off pretty quickly so its nice to still have a sparkling with the metallic paint.

I also brought the wolfeFX neon palette which I like for splitting into rainbow split cakes... haven't really used them for anything else but the neon rainbows are very very popular. (I figure its not a full face design and the kids aren't being painted with it every day so its not a worry)

I have used wolfe metallics and DFX metallics. DFX wins hands down. The colors are more vibrant and have depth to them. I love my DFX metallics you can't get that look by adding glitter to paint. I hacked up my wolfe metallics into splits. I have the full pots of my DFX mets in my working kit...and I use them alot. I also have the mini met palette in my practice/travel kit.

I just love DFX all around....lololol but the mets are really pretty

HAHA Eva... well, it's not as popular as it once was. I use the term "raver" loosely Smile I love electronic music, techno type stuff, and we go to some wicked events and parties (such as Shambhala in the Kootneys) Blacklights, glowsticks, and UV reactive anything are pretty much hand-in-hand with the genre Very Happy

It's not as big over here though as it is in Europe!!
