balloons for county fair

Post by zadok1000 on Tue Jun 21, 2011 8:04 pm

I've never been a vendor at a fair, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions how much to charge for each balloon creation...also any suggestions about how many balloons i should order.

Many people charge $1 per balloon in the creation. I just hope it isn't super hot at the fair- POP!

I actually bought a balloon for my daughter for an awesome twister at an event. She had 3 'tiers' little bracelets were $1 (lady bugs, turtles..etc...i believe they were one balloon creations, ) then $2, swords, flowers, etc
I bought a mermaid! it was $3 and it used several balloons. It was amazing to watch her twist.
I wish you luck, Ill leave this art to the pros.

it is easiest to explain the pricing if it is per balloon rather than having them try to figure out the complexity.

I've had a booth at a couple festivals where I only did balloons. My best advice to you is to make your prices big and clear. So many people assume balloons are free. I pre-made a whole bunch of balloons and had them ready for my assistant to just sell. I made balloons for those who wanted to wait in line. I also had tiers that were clearly defined. Show a menu with words or photos if you can. ie. Tier 1 - Swords and wands. Tier 2 - 5 simple designs, Tier 3 - hairbands, Tier 4 - 3 designs specialty big balloon designs. Tier 5 - custom design. The night before, I made up over 50 of the specialty big balloon designs and they sold out in the first couple hours. Good luck!
