How do you all get them to lay flat enough to apply the paint?

All I can say is everyone would have had a good laugh watching me try to add scales to my own arm and not being able to figure out how to make it work one-handed, lol. Someone posted about making a frame out of duct tape, I think. Definitely need some way to keep it stretched out a bit if you have the netting with teeny holes but the larger orange netting has large enough holes that I don't think it's a problem. Smile

I am with you on this one Sparklyone. I tried a few different ways and could not get any sort of net to sit straight to save my life. Whether I am painting myself or someone else, it would still have to be a one-handed hold and I am clearly NOT adept at this particular skill. lol! My hat is tipped mighty high to those who have managed to figure this out!

What about maybe adding a really stretchy elastic cord (like the ones on party hats) to the duct tape framed netting, so that the paintee "wears" the netting while you sponge the scales on? I don't have any duct tape or elastic cording at the moment so I can't try it yet, but I think it would work.

I've taken masking tape or painters tape & taped the edges in a square. I just hold the scale stencil on the face w/ my non-painting hand. It doesn't have to be held there perfectly.
