Thought it was about time I stopped lurking & said hi from the UK!
Hello all,
I have been lurking on here for the last good few weeks, & keep going to reply to posts & realise that I haven't yet de-lurked!
I'm a real newbie when it comes to face painting as got a Snazz party set last year & enjoyed painting my 2 boys, & then back in May I offered to paint some faces at a camp gathering of a natural parenting forum I am on when they only expected 20-30 families to come. Well from offering I started practicing lots, found this forum & another UK one & got addicted. I got a basic Snazz sett of 9 colours & wolfe black & white for line work. The camp became much bigger than expected & there was over 330 people. 2 other mamas helped with the painting & we painted for a solid 4 hours before I collapsed in a pregnant heap & we had to turn kids away (I was 12 weeks pregnant & was still in the end grips of hyperemesis/ extreme morning sickness). I thoroughly enjoyed my self though & the obbsession continues.
I aim to set up in business at some point, but will need to wait until the baby is born in November & at a point I can leave him for a few hours, as I breastfeed I think it will be in about 18 months time.......so lot's of practice time!!!!!
My sister is a mobile nail technician though & wants to do girly manicure parties, so I have offered to combine with her & do glitter tattoos. My kit is on the way & I'm very excited! I also have some henna cones on the way as that is something I have been wanting to try for ages. Indigo body art also interests me, but I don't seem to be able to get the crystals over here
Other than that I am 32, married to my gorgeous husband who I have been with nearly 11 years now & we home educate our 2 boys (5 yr & 3 yr old).
Here are a couple of pictures of some of my recent work...none perfect, but I did only really start a few weeks back

I look forward to getting to know you all.
Lisa

Welcome to the forum. You will love it! Nice job on your boys.

Wow! Your work is great! And congratulations on your baby
It sounds like you're going to be (and are) very busy - the idea of having a combined bday party business sounds very cool! Great combination for offering

Welcome to the forum! Your pictures are so adorable! I really like the Walle cheek art! Do you mind if I try it? My little girl loves Walle
Congrats on baby! I hope the morning sickness has gone away now. . .with my little one, I was sick everyday up until I had her, and I couldn't imagine painting faces while I felt so bad - Yay for you for doing so well

Gidday & welcome to this fun loving group from Cradle Mountain, Tasmania Australia.
Nice to have you on board Lisa, your paintings are terrific I think you were born to do this. When you've been bitting by the painting bug for some there's no turning back. There's not 5 mins in my day I don't think about fp.
By the way what is Indigo body art? It is something to do with the indigo & crystal children? You have me curious.

Thank you all for the lovely warm welcome & positive comments on my painting.....sometimes I am my own worst enemy & am so critical all I can see is the faults!
Please feel free to try the Wall-E. I had to do that one from looking at my sons toy, as originally he wanted a full face & I couldn't work out how to do it, so convinced him to have a small one which he chose on his arm. I did Eve too, but forgot to get a picture of that one!
As to the indigo, this is the only site I have ever seen it, but it looks so gorgeous esp when combined with silver or gold glitter that I'm itching to have a go! If you click on some of the links in that one there are lots more gorgeous pictures http://www.mehandi.com/shop/skinindigo/

Hi Lisa.
Welcome to the forum. Your paintings are awesome! As the mother of an almost 2 yr old that still nurses I got to say it is the perfect job for staying close to your little ones. I was only doing henna and henna bumps when he was really young but if they wanted to book me for more than a few hours I made sure they understood that I had to have a break and his dad would bring him to me for a feed. At markets and festivals we just close up shop for nurse breaks and they explore the festival and just come back periodically. Now he's older I can go to jobs for a whole day but it was the perfect job when he was young due to flexibility.
As for indigo try to PM Mehndimasala (Kim) she's the guru of that kind of thing
