Painting a nursery
So, I have very little experience painting nurseries but I do have a little. I have been asked to paint a jungle wall in a babies room, but I have no earthly idea what to charge for something like that. I am wandering if you artists out there have ever done this. Do you paint by the hour our by the job? I just don't know what to tell her.
Re: Painting a nursery
Have you painted murals before? It is a lot of work.
I think there are some on here that have done commission work.
I've been asked about it, but have never taken on a job of that scope. There is the design process, approval, time to prep, time to rough out the design, painting, finishing and a clear coat if needed.
Do sketches and get the client to sign off on them before you start anything.
Price wise... perhaps call around and see what other people charge for this type of work in your are?

Re: Painting a nursery
I kinda chickened out this time around. Just the simple one on my face painting pg to quite a while. I can imagine how long an entire mural would take. I did refer her to a friend that I know has experience painting really big stuff and is also my children's art teacher. She painted a wall for her new grandbaby and it was Jungle themed ,so maybe they will be a good match.
It is such a busy time right now, I just don't think I wanted to bite off more than I could chew. Thanks for all of the helpful suggestions though.

Re: Painting a nursery
II will let you know if I find out anything because, I need to research this and be ready. It would be great in the slow months to have a job like that.
Re: Painting a nursery
