Tattoo Johnny Patriotc Design

I did this SBS, but didn't get it in in time for the news letter(I've been sick w/ a respiratory thing plus tons of wildfire smoke to complicate matters. I'm all better now, PTL).
I love the Tattoo Johnny Book & it's got tons of great ideas!

Paints: DFX white, black, red, Paradise splits green/yellow, red/yellow, Paradise blue, paradise light blue & white. Baby wipes
Tools: Sponge, 1/2" filbert brush, 3/4" flatbrush, small round detail brush, small filbert brush


Double load a sponge w/ a base color(I chose light blue & white)


Using a 1/2" filbert brush paint hearts


Using a babywipe, remove the paint for the ribbon


Paint the flag/ribbon: Use a 1/2" flatbrush for the blue. Use a small filbert for the red & white stripes


Add leaves & flowers: Use a small filbert brush & a green/yellow split for the leaves. Use a small filbert brush & a red/yellow split for the flowers



Using a small round detail brush & DFX Black, outline design. Make a wash of black paint & add shadowing. Highlight with DFX White.

That is so terrific! I can't wait to get my Saturday jobs behind me so I can get my Red, White and Blue on too! It seems like way too long since I've been able to just play with my paints Crying or Very sad

I love this design every time I see your Avatar. Is it ok for the forum to practice it? Is this why you did a step by step. Of course I would make it my own by sweaking it. I may have a tattoo party soon.
