My favourite request from a little boy so far-
"Can you paint my face as a dragon fighting a dinosaur and there's crocodiles in the river jumping out to fight them as well?"
Ummm.... no.

I know that - parents think/tell their kids I can't paint Spiderman on them as I don't know how because he is not on my displays Rolling Eyes

I know that - 8 to 14 year old boys are ONLY painted as skulls

I know that evey little girl's favourite two colours are pink and purple... or purple and pink, or just pink or just purple.

I know that children under 12 should NOT be watching LOTR because I don't know the books or movies and have no idea what they are asking me for - I don't even understand the words they're using let alone know the characters!

I know that the squirmy-nesh factor is in direct proportion to the amount of detailed line work in the design asked for.

I know that whatever the birthday girl asks for is what I will be painting on every other girl at the party... the boys will choose Bat mask/Skull or Spidey.

LOL this calls for a massive red splashed face and some black (dragon) green (crocodiles) and brown (dinosaurs) squiggles!

or the sweet little 5yr old coming up and asking for a breed specific animal with the correct markings and lines.
IE: Hi! Can you pwease paint me a jagged tooth lemon shark?
You dont even WANT to know what I painted for this lil guy, lol

Hahaha, you guys are so right!!!, is crazy when you have a long line and the girl who you just painted and was so happy with it went to wash her face, and come to you and say" can you paint me again" and then come every 5 min to ask you the same, but I tell you something they may be as picky as they are, with that grate imagination that challenge you to improve and create, but is so nice to see their faces when they look at the mirrow and say wow!!, even when they don't ask for that design jajajaja lol!

What I know is that...

Models will always be late

Photographers schedules will never correspond with yours

Poofer bottles never work in the wind

Bounce houses and pools are my worst enemies

People will always ask if it's "real"

People will always ask when it comes off

People will always ask if I will teach them how to do what I do

The fatmax has changed my life

I will always want more paint

Headbands save my princess crowns

Some mom will always try to touch my stuff

People will always look in amazement when they ask if I painted my own face and I say yes

They will always ask how you paint your own face

Rude parents will try to push their children to the front of the line

Some mom will always give you some sob story on why you should paint one more face

I know that parents will ask their 2 year old if they want *random character that I've never heard of*, have them enthusiastically agree, and THEN as if I can paint that.

I know that no one understands that "little" is not the same as "fast".

I know that (switching to balloons for a second) the same parents who ask if I can make swords will say no to the deluxe ray guns because they don't like guns. (But pretending to stab someone in the stomach is okay?)

Despite the fact that your line is super long there is always a parent who will do a photo shoot while their child is still IN your face painting chair. Never mind that the next child in line is about to bull rush him

Parents who want their babies to be painted want to be secretly painted themselves but because it is socially unacceptable they will just push it on the helpless baby

It takes a $20 bill for me to stop packing once i have decided it is time to go.

You work really hard practicing and trying out this awesome new design, and no one will want to try it.

In every group of butterflies, princesses and unicorns, there's always gonna be that one girl that wants to be a zombie or something. And you will feel refreshed and will take extra care to make it awesome.

Some ethnic groups have difficulty with the concept of the lineup.

Parents will always laugh and say "aww" when you paint the tongue on the puppy.

Parents will ask you "so does this stuff wash aff easily?" only AFTER you're almost finished.

...Representatives from "charitable" organizations will always think your love of what you do to be synonymous with "I'll do it for free if I have to".

...Schools will expect you to volunteer out of sheer gratitude just because your children attend/you live in the same neighborhood/one of their students once vandalized your house/you've voted on a school levy/or you just happened to drive by their building everyday...

...People who see you painting "effortlessly" will make the assumption that you're raking it in hand over fist and want a piece of that lucrative pie.

...People who think you make tons of money but who also know they have no artistic talent will think they can get a cut by offering to be your "helper"...sorry...but I wash my own brushes thank you very much!

...Those same people think you're lying about the hundreds of dollars in startup costs...

Parents will always ask "does it tickle?" to the kid, who will always start to laugh and wince while I am TRYING to paint them. Way to go mom and dad, you just turned this dog face into a tie dye face.

The birthday mom will ALWAYS forget how much she owes you, and make you repeat it back to her in front of the whole party. Awkward much?

The wealthiest families give the worst tips(typically, not always a truism.)

The birthday kid will always get the first face(at the insistence of someone) and then will always be disappointed in it after seeing everyone elses' faces.

Parents will look at you like it's your job to help their kid into the chair... uh no, I have a back and I'd like to save it by not lifting 500 kids into this chair this weekend, thanks.

The parents who are nice enough to send you copies of pics from the party also want your permission to sell the pics to istock.com Sad

The biggest event that you book all year will be during the hottest, most humid weekend of your life, and there will be rain, and huge crowds.

Even though you tell the kids that they can "run off and play, and you'll call their name when it's their turn so that they don't have to wait in line" they will continue to wait in line anyways.

There will always be that parent who stands in line and loudly announces who long they have been waiting and how wonderfully patient their child has been. yea right.

ROFLOL!

If you shake my dog, he will leave a pile of glitter on the floor.

My line will always get going just as soon as I think to myself that I should go to the bathroom before I have a line.

Someone will always smoke right under my no smoking sign and then not get why the words "Kaboom" would apply to both of us when I explain that temporary tattoo airbrush ink is both flamable and airborne.

That ten minutes before you are finished - and you think it will match with the two kids in eyesight - twenty will show up out of nowhere.

You will have ten booking request for one Saturday, but none for the ones before or after.

People will always ask: you must be really tired in your hands after a day of facepainting? (no, but my back is not always happy)

There are some that don't understand that the reason that there is no line, is because you have closed. It does not matter that they have come by three times before, you still will not paint one more.

Some assume it costs money and are saying no to their kids, even before they have asked.

Parents sometimes think that it takes longer to paint a normal tiger facepaint, than the entire tiger on the cheek of a four year old.

People will always be surprised when they learn that facepainting is actually your job.
