First festival and a GREAT BIG THANK YOU!
I had my first festival this Saturday! I was so excited, I couldn't get to sleep until 2:30 in the morning Friday night, and of course I had to get up at ,6:30 to get there. I was super nervous...and worried sick. On the way there, my full length mirror broke in half. . .which added to the stress (7 years bad luck and all). 1/2 way there, I go digging through the back seat looking for the camera, and realize the battery is missing (Hubby thought it would be a good idea to make sure it was completely charged).
We got there, started getting set up, and in comes the rain. . .it lasted all of 10 minutes
but the sticky humidity stayed in the air all day. It was so humid, all of my paints were wet just from the air. It was the weirdest thing. The Wolfe and DFX paints seemed to be sopping wet even when I hadn't used them yet. It took me a minute to get the right consisancy, but I figured it out pretty quick while painting my own arm. Then I ducked taped my mirror back together (very thankful it held up and I got to get kids out of the chair faster so they could get a better view).
It turned out great! All of the kids loved their faces, and I even painted A LOT of adults. . .some of them in their 50's and 60's. My husband was in charge of line control and money, and we have discoved that he is quite the little salesman! He was able to talk anyone that walked up into getting something!
We both had a really good time! It wasn't so busy that I was stressed, but busy enough to be steady. Luckily, the parents didn't even mind the wait. . . our spot was in a parking place right beside a giant tree so there was a lot of shade. The parents enjoyed getting to rest as much as the kids liked the painting! A few of them even said, "wow she's fast!" Which made me very happy! I hate I didn't get any pictures, but the festival posted a few on their facebook page so that's better than nothing!
Everything seemd to start off a little rough, but ended up turning out great! I hope they all go this well
Thank you to everyone on the forum, I don't think I would have been anywhere near prepared if it hadn't been for you guys! FPF is awesome!!!

Sounds like dejavu (except the mirror part...) for me and my first. I'm glad it turned out well. Hope you can snag some of those pictures or share a link, I'd love to see. Congratulations!

PS: Wasn't it Perry that said always bring duct tape? Now we know why.

Yes! I think it was Perry - Thank you Perry! The duct tap saved the day! Oh, here is the link to the picture video posted on the festival's facebook page...There are only 3 pictures of our booth/work on here...not too bad considering there were 32 arts and crafts booth at the festival, and these are the only pictures they posted from that section! All the others are focused on the BBQ and the music stuff.

It did go well, and now I can't wait for the next one! I've got a charity event on the 23rd, and another event on the 30th! I hope the set up is a little easier, but I think my nerves will finally be okay. . .at leat my fingers are crossed that they will.
Thanks everyone
