Scotland, what to see?

I am going to Scotland with my parents and siblings - Aberdeen and Loch Ness, the rest is improvisation. Any insider knowledge about what to see in that area, that is not in all the tourist books?

Make sure you do the lake tour it is quite breath taking.

I've only been to a few places in Scotland...even though I was born and grew up in England until I was 19...

the place that stands out to me as being crazy beautiful is a small town called "Strathyre" - it was the first time I looked at a lake and mountains and thought that they looked too beautiful to be true - that if I'd seen a photo of it I'd have been sure it'd been touched up.

Of course, that was about 28 years ago, so it might've changed, just a little, by now.

Edinburgh is amazing and beautiful - been twice.

Also stayed at a B&B on the shore of Loch Lomond - really wonderful. I can't remember the name of it but it had multiple guest rooms and was a working sheep farm that was the set of a television series...

We are not going so far south
But then I have a reason to go another time!
