WHOO HOO!! New paints :D

Post by cattsy on Tue Jul 12, 2011 2:59 pm

Okay so to the more seasoned painters on the list, this may seem silly, but I'm STOKED!!

Over the last few weeks I have put in a couple orders from the forum shop, my first two significant orders of paint since I bought my pallets a year ago.

Today I got one of them. Mostly it was just replacing colors that I had used up out of my pallets, Paradise purple, lagoon blue, black, but I got some NEW stuff too and couple WAIT to try them out.

I ordered a couple of split cakes, the TAG fairy garden and rose one stroke.

I just HAD to do a butterfly with that pretty fairy garden one. LOVE the colors, and was VERY impressed with how the TAG washed off too.

The other color that I ordered to try was the Paradise Deep Sea. It's a neat sort of dark teal-ish green and the minute I tried it out i knew it would make a great monster! I goofed the shading on the horns bleh, but that's my bad side and I HATE painting myself!! Love this color though, but then I really like bold dark colors. I was afraid it would stain, since the paradise teal loves to hang around on me, but it washed off great.

I also got a Snazaroo Dotter wand (didn't take pics though) but I LOVE it!!! what a fantastic way to make dots, since I SUCK at them (my butterfly is a perfect example haha!!)

I actually feel like I'm getting a decent "kit" now Very Happy Whoot!!

I know, pretty pitiful compared to the lovely setups that some of you have, but I'm excited Very Happy

I'm still waiting for my *big* order, which has DFX metallixs and neons and a few other refills, including glitter and liquid bling, but looking at the tracking it should be here tomorrow!!

Yay me!!

Oh I cant wait to get my kit started up either, I still have plastic palettes. I am still wondering how Brain Wolfe carries his colors around so simply and does such great work! 12 colors and no splits. insane.
im addicted so much to new rainbows n splits I feel like an addict.
oo the dotter wand. M was out last time, I will get one this time. I still cant seem to to dots. I do mini ovals.

The fairy garden is beautiful! If you ever do a butterfly with the teal on the eye and the purple on the outside, please post a pic. I'm super curious of what that would look like.

So I did a butterfly with the teal at the eye, inspired by... um I forget whos, but seen it recently and like the gothy look :p

Also did my first bling mask with my new glitter gel Very Happy The base is snaz sparkle teal i think? and I gotta say... I dunno, maybe too warm in my house? but the snaz sparkles (I got a lilac/teal split) are SOFT... like... cream cheese soft :s kinda hard to work with, but was really pleased with the coverage on the teal gotta say.

Haven't gotten to playing with the DFX yet but they're on my list Very Happy waiting for batteries for my blacklight *grins*

Oh! and I was gonna mention, I origonally didn't put the teal on my eye with the fairy garden cause I've had problems with teal staining in other brands, however! the TAG washed right off Smile

I just got mine in the mail!

I put it on my hand and washed it off a minute later and the teal stained. It took a second washing to get it all off, but it's worth it for the quality! It was really pigmented and easier to work with then most of my other cakes. It was softer and I needed less water. I think I'm sold on TAG!

Where did you get the clear plastic case your paints are in. It looks pretty shallow...which is what I am looking for, and if you open it, does the lid and bottom sit flush, where you could sit things on both sides when its open?

Believe it or not the Dollar Store :p They are paper organizers, used I think mostly for scrabooking, and yes they sit flush. HOWEVER, this particular one is really cheap... the plastic hinges are cheap, and the latch is crappy. You get what you pay for.

You CAN get way nicer/better quality ones at someplace like Michaels or another craft place, I'm going to check Walmart my next trip too. I just grabbed this one cause the dollar store is next door to my house. Walmart is across town LOL.

It's a great depth. I have lids on my paints right now (cept for my big DFX) and the case barely closes, but would probably fit better without lids. I'm probably going to use double sticky tape to keep the pots from sliding around.
