Uh oh... Soft/jelly DFX paints?

Post by cattsy on Thu Jul 14, 2011 12:19 am

I dunno if my paints were too wet, or if it's too hot (it's not really hot here, and I'm inside, not like it's out in the sun) I don't *think* i'm using too much water, but maybe?

My DFX has gone all rubbery-ish... The UV pink and my black are the worst :s My TAG fairy cake too! THe purple especially is all softish and rubbery.

What causes that??? will they go back to normal??

Also my Snaz, before I even used it, was like... I dunno, soft cheesecake?? the metallic purple worked up horribly with a brush, my brush sorta slid across it. The teal was okay with a sponge but still had a weird texture.

I use Snaz and DFX. Mine are doing the same thing. I think it is the humidity here. I've taken to storing mine uncovered near the AC vent. It seems to help dry them out.

Yea, you need to dry them out.
When you use your paints try to make a little well in the middle that way you can still wet your paints and turn them into the right consistency without the water soaking all the way through and getting your entire cake soggy.

My TAG Fairy Garden was soft when I got it so I don't know. Maybe it was warmed in the mail box before I got it.

I haven't tried it today. I'm trying to make sure everything is dried out before tomorrows gig Smile
