How do you organize your glitter?
Awright. So I'm at my volunteer YMCA gig this morning, and while I'm busy painting, a couple kids in line bump my table, and knock over my gold glitter pot. GLITTER EVERYWHERE. I salvaged most of the pot, fortunately, but...augh.
This is why I'm a big fan of the poofer bottles, and I mostly just use white iridescent over faces, but I do like having my pots, too, for designs that get glitter in specific spots...plus I'm starting to do glitter tats, and the glitters I have are all potted, not bottled, so I need a solution to this that keeps colors separate and safe. I'd love to pick all of your brains on how you arrange your glitter pots to keep them from getting knocked over or mixed up. Any ideas?

Re: How do you organize your glitter?
*All* my glitters are in poofers.
Had a kid do the same thing to my rainbow silver and just about cried, it was all of a day old.
The good ones go early!!!
I do think that it is easier to use a poofer for glitter tattooing
It is more persice
You just have to learn how to control your hand pressure and not squeez too hard and stuff because i have found that you can be much more wasteful if you are not careful with the poofer
Also, if you have any kind of problem with your wrist i would not recomend it.

was decently priced enough, but in truth, those things are not cheap unless you buy a couple 100

Re: How do you organize your glitter?
I don't use poofers for my glitter tattoos. I use regular glitter pots. I keep the lids on them when i'm not using them. I'm the only one that's spilled them before...
Re: How do you organize your glitter?
Actually those aren't bad prices, considering how many you get. I can't imagine NEEDING that many, though - maybe I'd take like twelve and then sell the rest on the forum!
I guess I need to practice more with the poofers. I feel like I just don't have enough control with them. Plus some kids seem not to like them - flinch every time you poof.
I've thought of taking lids on and off as I go, but that seems very time-consuming, especially if I'm doing several colors with one tat. How in the world do you manage it?
And I had the mother of all spills today - knocked my paint water cup right into my own lap!

Re: How do you organize your glitter?
If my head was not attached I would forget to take it with me so I can't imagine how I would remember to close after each application
Re: How do you organize your glitter?
I use a poofer bottle mostly, but I also use a glitter pot. I washed out an old skin cream pot (Oil of Olay or something) and use that. It is very thick glass, so it is heavy, short and squat - pretty much impossible to tip over. You can see it in this picture, beside the pink/blue splitcake:

It looks really full but it's not, I keep only maybe a tablespoon of glitter in it.
I want to start doing glitter tats, I need to start paying attention to the tat threads!!

Re: How do you organize your glitter?
I have a bead case from michaels that has thirty little pots with lids all snug inside another rectangular case. I take off all the little lids before I start, and then screw them all back on again when the day is done. (which, yes, is a pain but that happens no matter how you slice it!) I think having them all together in the larger case makes them really hard to spill.

Re: How do you organize your glitter?
I have all my paints in 2 of those things.
I love it.
Used a coupon from michaels and got it for under 10 bucks each.
Instead of 60 huge pots taking up SO much room... I transferred all my paints into there. They are small and yet still (suprisignly enough) can hold like 25g of paint (3/4s of a brand new 25g cake)!
Also, they are loose so I can grab it out and load it or just leave it there and load my brush normally.
I leave the lids off and put them in one of those paper organizes.
NO MORE LID SHUFFLE FOR ME!!!!

Re: How do you organize your glitter?
btw, snazz eats this plastic so I would not advise trying this with snaz
Re: How do you organize your glitter?
ZOMG. IWANT.
I hope Michael's still carries that. I don't think it would work for my paint though. I do too much sponging to make a paint surface that small practical.

Re: How do you organize your glitter?
They have two sizes. The one I have each little pot is about the size of a quarter and a full inch deep. The other set has slightly wider pots, but I think they are a bit more shallow. It was a toss-up which one to get, really. Around $10 I think.

I use a sponge for all if not most of my faces and these containers work fine. Daisy uses a snaz 52 pallet too that she moved all her paints into and yea, it does not take much to get used too. I have no problems loading my sponges
On a side not, I still carry regular sized split cakes as well.
I did get the slightly larger version of these little pots though. The ones that did not screw on to each other so they are a bit deeper too.
Re: How do you organize your glitter?
I think a trip to Michael's is in order.
I have several bead cases but they are full of...beads. Go figure. I guess I could dump one of them out since I'm not beading at the moment; see if it works for me before going and spending 10 bucks. But I don't have the little pots, and they are what make the whole set-up look cleaner to me.

Re: How do you organize your glitter?
I keep my glitter lids on unless I'm using them(then the lids go right back on). I've had to many moments where kids bump, spill or dump drinks & water into the glitters, etc. I've also dropped down to just the white iridescent glitter for face painting. I only pull out green for St. Patrick's Day, Red & Green at Christmas & Gold & Teal for Jacksonville Jaguar events. I don't use any other glitters unless I'm doing glitter tattoos.
