Living Canvas, Mark Reid, Lone Wolfe, Jody Carr, Dutch and many more picture heavy

Post by rebecca on Sun Jul 17, 2011 6:04 pm

Hi Guys,

I'm posting a 3-5 min tiger i painted the other day at a birthday party.

i have to thank Mark Reid for teaching me how to paint a 3-5 min tiger that looks good...and his misting the bangs trick.

Mark is an amazing teacher. If i could only take one class, ever...it would be Mark Reid's.

He's going to be at A Living Canvas in San Jose in a couple of weeks...along with Lone Wolfe, Neeta Sharma, Dutch, gary cole, lisa smiley, Amy, Jodi Carr, and many others.

If you can make it...it's a great little convention.

you will get a lot of personal attention;) !!
I'll post the work of a few of the other instructors as well Wink

That is, indeed, a fantastically striking and simple tiger. I love how looking at work like this makes me realize that it is the handling of the brush strokes that is important rather than trying to make everything perfectly symmetrical. I would have agonized over that nose and the way the lines curving up from the bottom are not exactly the same - and yet it looks amazing, because the strokes are bold and deliberate and nobody looking at this would say it was "wrong". Whew!

My jaw dropped at the peacock at the bottom. Gorgeous.

I'm jealous for not being able to be there and taking classes ...Too far Sad
And Rebecca, your 3-5 min tiger is a 20 min tiger for me... and not with the same perfect result!

thanks you guys about the tiger...

honest....it's all Mark Reid

I know he has a book that has step by step

I think he has a dvd on cats too

mark breaks everything down...and, shows you how to make it quick

the only thing that i do differently...is i use a flat brush for my lines, and not a #4 round

i'm working on an abc tiger though;)

i painted the little boy a couple days ago...

but, i took marks class about 4 yearss ago

here are a couple of the tigers i painted right after his class...they took me longer than 5 min though

these are a couple of my first face paintings ever;)
