Metallic/pearl whites & fave pinks & blues?
I have come home from a jam today with a list to spend my birthday money on, but seem to have confused myself with a couple of things. I want to order tonight as we are going away on Sat for a week & I want to take my new kit as there will be loads of willing kids. Sooooo........
1) How do the DFX metallic white & the special white compare? Also the Grimas pearl white?
2) What is your favourite pinks if you could only have a couple right now? (I seem to have ended up with about about 5 on my list!!)
3) How does the DFX metallic blue compare with the Snaz electric blue as that seems to be very popular & I didn't get to see that today?
Thank you in advance

1) Special white? What are you talking about? I've not tried the Grimas pearl white, but I adore the DFX Metallix white - very pretty eye base!)
2) Snaz sparkle pink for blush/eyeshadow. I switch back and forth with Snaz bright pink and Kryolan pink and can use either. (I use it in a purple split for butterflies etc) DFX Metallix red is really pink and great for lips.
3) Have Snaz Electric blue but haven't used it yet so can't compare, but I like the DFX Metallix blue - dragon spikes and Swirls/accents

I love my pink Wolfe. I use it more then my Paradise, but the Paradise is great, too! Are you wanting a medium pink or a light pink? Wolfe is lighter.
I just ordered a Pink TAG and a Pearl White TAG from Metina. Should be here tomorrow.

I love my snazz sparkle pink. I prefer wolfe metallic white.
Re: Metallic/pearl whites & fave pinks & blues?
I absolutely love the metalic pink that I have from Wolfe! Probably has a different name other than pink? Not sure.
Re: Metallic/pearl whites & fave pinks & blues?
Thanks all
I have come to the conclusion that the special white & the metallic white are the same thing, just labeled differently on different UK sites....just to completely confuse newbies!!!
I ended up ordering the Snaz sparkle pink & salmon as quite a few of the Grimas pinks that were recommended to me were sold out on the sites I wanted to order from. I wanted the DFX metallic red, but everywhere seemed sold out of that too.....all though I did get a Paradise cherry bomb (couldn't remember if that is more red or pink though?)
As for the blues I ended up getting both. Everything should arrive tomorrow so I'm rather excited as I got some empty boxes to make up some split cakes too. Plus today I went to a stationers & picked up some very cheap A4 plastic document folders that will work great as storage pallets & much cheaper than the proper named ones
Then I'm all set for our week long home education festival where I'm sure there will be loads of willing kids for me to practice on.........esp as the supplied face painting is only done by volunteers a couple of times during the week & from what I remember is not great now I know what I'm doing. I will need to see if I can gently give them hygiene advice too as I think they were only using 1 sponge per painter & the kit was VERY messy & dirty.

Re: Metallic/pearl whites & fave pinks & blues?
DFX metallic dark blue that I have stains VERY badly. Unfortunately it is great for lining compared to Snaz. I'm going to try wolfe and see if that stains as well.
Re: Metallic/pearl whites & fave pinks & blues?
Ponygirl, what are you using to remove it with? I used the DFX Metallic Dk Blue all the time and have never had it stain. We remove it either with baby wipes or we put soap on it, let it soak in for a couple minutes then remove with warm water and a wash cloth. These are also the instructions on our cards, and I have kids come back day after day to be painted without stains on them.
I love DFX Metallix. I can't stand Paradise metallics. I have not tried others.

Moms around here are very uptight. Remember I paint a lot of three year olds - no one wants to be scrubbing a three year old with soap on their face around here. So, at the first word "stain" the eyes start rolling back in their heads. I just stick with simpler things that wouldn't be compromised without the 'perfect' metallic blue lol.
The parents of older kids are more used to it, and tattooing is so romanticized these days, I think the bigger kids LIKE the stain aspect, anyway. I only use staining colors for lines, and away from the eyes. In fact I don't paint anything close to the eyes on a kid under five. I tell the moms at the party "you are the one that is going to hire me for the party YOU will have. Not the child." They all nod vigorously and in appreciation that they will not be hog-tying a child before bed to get the paint off so it won't get on their Pottery Barn sheets. I paint every culture under the sun, lol, so I use judgment where it has served me before. If I smell Uptight Mom coming, I know what to say and do.

Re: Metallic/pearl whites & fave pinks & blues?
DFX metallic white is one of my favorite goto paints! I love it for tiger muzzles. I have snaz sparkle white(I think that's what it is). It's ok, but once it's gone I'm going back to DFX.
DFX Metallic blue outdoes Snaz Sparkle blue in my opinion. It's so bold. I bought Paradise Metallic blue & it just doesn't compare(just so you know
).
The pinks can very. I like the DFX metallic pink(don't remember the real name). I also love Paradise Pink. TAG Metallic pink is too pale in my opinion. It gets lost on the faces of fair children & looks all tacky on darker skins. I'm still hoping to find a good use for it. Snaz Sparkle Pink(if that's the name... I'm so bad w/ their names
) is my favorite little girl blush. It really makes a design pop!

Re: Metallic/pearl whites & fave pinks & blues?
I have my DFX pearl white in a split cake with my DFX regular white, so I can mix and layer easily.
I find the pearl white not nearly as opaque! I'm scratching head that others find the opposite. I do greatly prefer the workability of Paradise white, over DFX. DFX can get so hard (in the same laptop as paradise...) that I will do my normal ritual brush loading technique in certain weather and BLOP - creeping wet yuck!! Sigh. I stopped spraying paints when I started using DFX but this is my first summer with them. I *may* start spraying again, will see.
I don't have many Paradise metallics, but yeah they are pretty lame. That Cherry Bomb that I have is a very weird color. Not red, not rust. I never use it, it has no use for me and needs to come out. I split caked it with the Snaz burgundy, because I do a lot of reddish horses but really I was disappointed.
If the OP is a newbie...if you haven't figured it out, paints can vary widely from batch to batch. So we all come to expect head-scratching! Do they put batch numbers on these things??
