Adrenaline Rush?

Post by Robin MP on Sat Jul 23, 2011 8:22 pm

So earlier today I painted for a few hours at a BBQ at my Husband's lodge. It was a great learning experience for me. Especially scaling up and scaling down designs on the fly and dealing with special requests.

One thing I hadn't anticipated was the adrenaline rush. In retrospect it was a nervous, fight or flight kind of thing. I have always been proud of my fine line work but for the first 1/2 dozen or so designs I could barely control the shaking in my hand. It frankly drove me crazy. Has anyone else had something like this happen? Any tips other then to calm down?

All in all it was a great day especially when a jaded teenage girl's face lite up when she saw her butterfly and she practically threw her friends into my chair and then watching them have her mom take a picture of the three of them together so they could post it on facebook.

The nervous jitters are pretty normal in the beginning. You'll get over them if you paint regularly.
I had them. I'll get them occasionally if I'm painting in front of another professional & feel like I need to impress them(not that I do, it's just nerves). Two yrs ago at FABAIC I couldn't paint a thing while I was there... I was just too nervous...
