Painting for a goddess
Hello all, A friend has asked me to paint her arm with something for a god and goddess party. She is dressing in a white dress, with the gold tassle look. I've googled and searched online for ideas...at the moment I'm thinking of a gold wraparound snake type bracelet but I'm not sure if I can pull it off! The only gold I have is Diamond FX gold metallic and it really doesn't show up well, but I'm worried that by outlining the gold in black I'll ruin it! AH! Any ideas, suggestions?? xo

I'm seeing white snake with gold designs and outline so that it will show up on her skin. Gold would blend in quite a bit. Give the snake a glittering eye jewel.
Gold armband on her forearm with jewels glued on would be cool.
Make sure you take a picture for us.

I think Denise's idea sounds gorgous
I think it would be pretty to with black and the have the gold on top of it - to give it kind of an aged look. I think it would look pretty on her upper arm. . . .you know those wrap around things that go on the bicep? Or even a really thick ornate gold bracelet would be pretty. Have you seen the God of War video game? they use a lot of tribal type stuff for gods and goddesse - might give you a few ideas with other colors

I love Denise's idea!
I have done a couple of specific goddesses for a challenge in here, these are what I came up with...

That's really pretty Tash, I love it! I think something like that might work, I could maybe incorporate a little white snake into that as well. Thanks heaps x

A crown of leaves?
How about something swirly, soft and pretty for Aphrodite (goddess of love)
Athena (goddess of war/strategy and wisdom) is often depicted in a helmet with wings on the side, so perhaps a metallic crown with wings on the side and a jewel in the center?
Hera was represented by the peacock so you could have two that come into the forehead and are "connected" by a pretty jewel pattern with a couple that circle the arm as jewelry.
Hestia, she came to be known as a moon goddess so perhaps something with moon phases or a night sky?
She and Brigid (Celtic) are both hearth goddesses and so are also represented by flames, so maybe something flamey and pretty?
The rest of the Greek goddess aren't so...glamorous. lol
Inanna, the Egyptian Goddess, had temples along the rivers so she is depicted along water, so perhaps something flowy and aquatic? Like waves coming from each of her temples meeting in jewels in the center?
It all depends on what type of Goddess your friend wants to be.
A couple years ago for Halloween I dressed up as a goddess. I had my hub do a super light coating of gold all over me and then I glued gems to my face and chest. I did kinda glamour make-up and left it at that. Perhaps something like that?
If you want to use the gold metallic tone, use a dry black under each side to make a shadow for a 3D effect, with a bit of white on the top for the shine. It will help it to stand out some without being a harsh outline. You can also use a brown on the "sides" to make it even more 3D.
Good luck and have fun!
