What are your must haves?
I'm kinda new to all this and have been trying to get my "kit" and "pallette" together. I was just wonder what everyone considers their must haves? Are there certain split cakes or other supplies that you could not do without? Are there certain products you've bought but then found that you never touch them?

Re: What are your must haves?
This is a question that you will get a thousand different answers on, because everyone is so different.
I don't use liquid bling nearly as much as most people do. I think it's overrated and wouldn't invest in much of it at all.
I have some cream paints, I hate them.
I LOVE irradescent (sp??) white glitter. It goes on every painting amazingly.
Won't go without it.
My rake brush. I need my rake brush for feathers, leaves, fur, fabric detailing, etc. It's so useful once I figured it out.
#4 round brush. Mark Reid swears by it, I swear at it. I am just not believing the "it" brush thing. I much prefer a 2, and a 1/2" flat brush, a chisel brush and a liner.
Pouncers. I use them all the time. They are sooo useful. However, one of my girls has never touched hers.
I prefer Arty-style cakes to the half color split cakes.
Baby wipes and paper towels. My business lives and dies by these. Not literally but they are sooo important.
So yeah, there you have it. My personal list right now. Ask me next year and it's prone to change.

Re: What are your must haves?
Baby wipes and a mirror. After that? It's all personal preference.
My top 10 to get you started
Wolfe white
Wolfe black
Paradise black (I use paradise when I'm concerned about the Wolfe staining)
50g Tiger split (I made mine myself)
50g Rainbow cake of your choice
high-density/tack sponges cut in half
#3 or 4 round
3/4 inch flat
A basic pallette: a lot of people got their start with a Wolfe essentials pallete
Iridescent glitter
With that? You're golden for just about anything.

Re: What are your must haves?
Iridescent glitter - yes, absolutely.
Red, Yellow, Blue, Black and White. - You can mix anything from these as well.
Dayglow Pink is a favorite for girls and I probably use that on most things. It's a bit transparent though so you might also want a nice bright pink for detail work.
I also got a really pretty purple mixing my Dayglow Pink and Bright Blue (Kryolan).
I love having a metallic blue (I am waiting on an order of FAB Shimmer Blue and can't wait to get it!) as it is great for butterflies, fancy eye designs, and blending into bright pink.
I am still on the fence on Wolfe white. I tried it but by the end of the pot I reordered FAB white (on sillyfarm - and really similar to Kryolan). I have heard on this forum that perhaps I was getting it too wet and it ended up goopy. But it does go over any color like a dream if you use it that way.
I usually use my #4 round, #6 filbert, and #2 or #1 (depending on detail for outlining) for cheek art. I have a #8 and #10 round for full faces that I also love as well as a few high density sponges cut in half.
My newest "find" is using what looks like an eyeshadow brush that I found at Michaels to apply the glitter. I used to dip my finger in water and then in glitter but I have some smaller canisters now and always made my finger so dirty. The sponge tip on this brush sticks glitter on really well when damp.
I never touch my Kryolan Gold or Silver (the ones I bought were in a liquid form in a bottle - maybe the cakes are better?). I found that I much prefer a metallic yellow and metallic white (also on order right now for me - trying the FAB brand) as they pop more. The others I had were always way too transparent and never showed up on the faces.

Re: What are your must haves?
Great question!
Favs:
Wolfe white and black
Rainbow cake preferably neon(use it for butterflies, tigers and masks)
Tiger Cakes I bought mine at Silly Farm and use it for butterflies and giraffes, too.
pouncers or mop sponges- they are awesome when you need a perfect circle.
I like having small palettes like Wolfe and Paradise for things kids ask for that you aren't prepared for
brushes are so random. You have to find what works for you. My fav is a #6 Sapphire and a Majestic #0. I have two of each for white and black details.
Dislikes:
stencils I use them sometimes, but I feel like you are cheating! LOL They don't always come out clean lined either. I don't like to risk messing up in public
The middle brushes like #3 or #4 or #8 aren't really needed. I do like a #10 for big feathers on a bird mask.
That's all I can think of right now.

I have a sampler pallete from Paradise (little of all the colors that way I could figure out what I used most)
Spray bottle
Baby wipes (Target sensitive skin.....absolute favorite...more like a cloth then othere wipes)
I use seperate brushes for black, white, and color (size #4 round, #2 round, like filbert for scales and horns; several of their sizes, flat 3/4' and 1', and a small liner brush)
Sponges (cut in half)
Wolfe Neon Rainbow cake (girl Fav)
green split cake Tag (snakes and leaves for flowers)
I use a popicle container for my water
Water
Clear GLITTER!!!
q-tips for lipstick paint...a girls face isn't done without lips done.
BUSINESS CARDS!!!!!
and a mirror (maybe more then one they end up walking off a lot)
