Cool! I haven't even tried my strokes for butterflies...I'll have to try it tonight. I like that Fantasy Rainbow, I'll probably substitute it for the neon cake.

So what do you use Burlesque for besides butterflies? More, more...I love split anything! Smile

On another note... do you use those butterfly shaped brushes or just wiggle the 3/4 flat for your shape?

What? Butterfly brush...I just thought you were really good at wiggles. How does one load a butterfly brush and get that wiggle look?

I think the first picture with the butterflies up the arm Suzy used the butterfly brush and in the wiggle one she used a flat (correct me if I'm wrong).

Btw, love the fantasy cake! It does seem like a possible sub for neon. Thanks for posting Smile

Ive been on the fence about those... is it worth buying? I usually just make 4 flower petals and turn it into a butterfly.... is it faster that way with the brush though? I also heard you can cut your brushes to certain shapes as well... like just cut a triangle out to make two wings. What do you think of your brush an absolute addition to your brushes?

I take a fan brush and put hair gel in it. Let it dry overnight, and then take sharp scissors and cut out the shape of a butterfly wing on it. It is totally handy and I have used it a million times. I have no designs on my display that I use it in, but when a little one is skittish I put it on their hand or cheek.

I use elmo as my ice breaker for most kids... or a flower. If they wiggle the design still works..LOL If they cry on the first brush stroke I wipe it away and say better luck next time! Maybe I should get one and give a butterfly option then....hmmm

Hey Suzy, looks fab!

Can I ask, what surface have you painted the demo of your pink/grey/white split cake on? I am looking for a surface (perferably one I can wipe down) to practise on.

Thanks,

Donna

@ Eva: THANK YOU!! I have done this a few times recently, with great success. Metina's are pretty cost-effective too though, all things considered, if shipping costs to outside the US isn't a problem for you.
I have made a few different shapes of butterfly brushes and LOVE having that variety. Thanks again!

@ Suzy: Thanks for the great samples, ideas, and info as always. I look forward to signing up for a class in the new year!

What am I doing wrong then!!
I bought a butterfly-shaped brush, but it works lousy... It's like the water isn't IN the brush, but just stays on top of it. How to explain this in English... The brush doesn't load the paint. So I'm not getting nice butterflies...
Do you think it's the brush, or am I doing something wrong??

That is exactly how I use mine Eva. Had a birthday girl who was skiddish the other day, started with that brush and we did her whole arm! It is also great at those gigs when you are packing it in and there really is only one little girl crying...slap that on, happiness.

I tried to make and use a butterfly brush and it was a mess. It just separated into spikes. I guess I'm doing something wrong or it's too soft or something.
