Awwww, how cute!! :)
We feed chipmunks in our backyard... They are so cute! We tried feeding them out of our hands and toes and this is the result!

Yes they are sooo cute. We hardly see chipmunks where I am..Lots of squirrell but rarely a chipmunk. Always reminds me of chip and dale.
Re: Awwww, how cute!! :)
welllllllllllllllll..... These are backyard chipmunks and they are always in our yard, could they carry a disease like Lyme disease or Rabies, sure... But they don't act sick or crazy as I am sure a chipmunk with a disease would. It is always the same chippy that comes to get food for her/his little ones and today... She brought the little babies out with her to come and eat out of our hands... It is very gentle and once was trying to get a peanut and put my finer in her mouth. She didn't bite and just carefully let go. SO... The cuteness is worth it I suppose

Sorry, guys, forgive my ignorance but What's the difference between a squirrel and a chipmunk? I googled them but the translator gives me the same word for both: "ardilla". Thanks
Anyway,they're adorable!

Squirrels are little larger and can be black, red, brown, or gray. They have a large bushy tail. http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/mammals/squirrel/
Chipmunk are usually smaller and almost always have the same color markings as shown in the pictures above. They have a much shorter tail.

They both are normally found in wooded areas.
chipmunks I think are cuter because they smaller....and I don't see them as often as a squirrel.
cute pics Suzy.

Re: Awwww, how cute!! :)
We had a family of chipmunks where I work and they were priceless. I looked for them everyday. They would scurry across my feet walking up the side walk. I would make little noises like them so I don't know if they identified the sounds with me but they would come when I did it. Even got to see some baby ones. Then the job in their infinite wisdom decided to do some drainage renovations and subsequently their home near one of the drainage ditches was destroyed. I hope they got away and didn't get eaten by something else. I sure do miss them

I miss chipmunks... we don't have them in any part of Florida that I have ever been in- Only when I lived in the catskills.

Adorable Suzy!!! And amazing that they will come and eat so close to you!! Most animals won't. What an awesome experience for the family!!!

I love chipmunks ,too!. We have a cat and unfortunately none are near us but at my parents house all nestled back in the woods, they have so many of the little guys. They don't come close enough to feed though but the raccoons sure do! Mom feeds her kitty on the back porch and in the evening young raccoons think it is feeding time. I think if her glass door was open, they would try to walk right in.

Thanks for the lesson, Mana. You're great!
I'm so jealous of your life close to nature!!!! In the Spanish Mediterranean Coast where I live we are only close to sardines, LOL

We have a family of crows that nest down the back lane every year and they will sit on our deck railing and talk to us through the window - we can have long conversations. The parents use our yard as a training ground for showing the kids how to find worms and bugs.
Moose wander down the back lane in the winter. Squirrels we've only see run down our fence line or along the powerlines at the back... we've got no food sources in our yard - although my apple tree may be a target this year (I've got 31 apples!)
And there is a pair of Merlins nesting in a tree out back... noisy!! They scream continually each evening. Merlins are small raptors
