Sooo I posted on facebook about some free baby stuff I am trying to get rid of, and someone mentions she wants the high chair. Then this other friend (friend A) gets on and posts how she has a high chair for sale, and it's probably nicer, and does the girl want to buy it? Girl says no, why would she when there is a free one right here. Then friend A gets a little tiffy and complains that she has been trying to sell off her baby stuff for two years with no luck. So I casually mention that people rarely buy stuff like that because it is so easy to find for free, and when they do buy it, they want it CHEAP CHEAP. Friend A goes into a cussing fit on my facebook status (mind you I have children and elderly on my FB, not appropriate for cussing) about how she doesnt give a f*** she paid good money for this sh** and she isn't gonna give it away and she doesnt like the lifestyle where she can afford to give sh** away. Mind you, friend A is CONSTANTLY complaining about how bad she has it, how she can never catch a break, how bad her life sucks all the time. Sooo I simply post "karma!" with a smiley face and she goes through the roof and eff me and my peace love and hippie crap and blah blah blah. Remember now, I am really the only friend this girl has, because no one wants to deal with her drama and whining all the time. I replied if she doesn't go good for others, not to complain that no good ever comes to her. She deleted me (how will I sleep at night? LOL). I have NO regrets about this. I stand by my own advice. Do good for others, and good will come to you. Apparently my new life advice is, Give life advice, get yourself defriended on facebook. *laughing* Cest la vie.

It's kinda a good thing. I cringe every time my phone rings and it's her, not to mention any time I post on FB about something fun I am doing, she always comments trying to make me feel guilty. Good riddance!!!!

Sounds like you lost nothing worthwhile. A few years ago I decided to drop all the "friends" who weren't beneficial in some way. I have less friends now, but the ones I do have are all nice!

Indeed, Deb. I do a regular downsize and clean out of my friends list regularly, and she always made the cut simply because I felt sorry for her. I feel like dancing, I am FREE I AM FREE!!!!!!

I think we all have the odd 'pity friend' but I have to admit, your rock around your neck was WAY worse than any I've had!

I just 'ditched' my friend like that a little while ago too. Ohhhh how much easier your own life feels. If she has been doing this for years and her 'only' friend is someone she has no problem to disrespect online (which absolutely anyone can read) then there is not respect...... friendship is built on respect and we all at least deserve that.

I have de-friended people in the past and only had one person even notice and freak out...she was a fair weather friend and a drama queen too. May your friend list be more about quality than quantity .

I wouldn't sweat it at all. People like that are emotional vampires that like to drain the life out of others for their comfort. You are right in telling her the truth. Truth hurts but sometimes we have to hear it. And it's up to us to decide what we want to do with the truth, either take it and try to improve ourselves or use it as an excuse to play the self pity game.

I can totally relate... I seem to attract these types of people... cuz I tend to be a real good listener. The thing is that you honestly did the right thing by telling her the old golden rule... "Do unto others as you want them to do to you!" And she is obviously the type that wants people to be negative, and waa waa to her all the time. I had one friend that no matter how I would try to help her even to the point of $$$ in her hand she never thought it was enough, I finally got tired of it and told her that I don't need to have her as a so called friend and the punishment that I had to endure with her was not worth the "oh so wonderful" friendship! She complained more and I finally just got to the point of ignoring her all the time. Calls coming from her my entire family knew NOT to answer EVER!!!! I could care less if she wanted to apologize, which she tried to several times, but as her patterns were apology, kinda nice, then back to her old self! I had felt like there was a 200 lb weight lifted off of me. It felt great!!!

So you did the right thing!!! Good for you standing up for yourself, and also trying to enrich her life! May your life be blessed for putting up with her for so long! And good for you for giving the stuff away to someone that needed it, Karma will bless you in the end. ~*~ HUGS ~*~

people who are always needy and never give anything positive back need to be removed....so yay for you! I think drama is over rated ...fun sometimes but then enough is enough... you cant always be walking on eggshells trying to not crush other people etc. Good riddance to toxic friendships!
