Insurance for the newbie. Help!

Post by summers4seasons on Tue Aug 16, 2011 1:35 pm

Ok! So I have ready to start looking for insurance. Who has a reliable company the recommend for the USA? I'm in Missouri, if that's going to make a difference. And what questions should I be asking? I assume there are different levels of insurance too. What do you lovely talented artists suggest?

THANK YOU!! pig

If you Join the "World Clown Association", you can add on insurance easily. Have always gotten wonderful service, a mag published with party/event/performance ideas. Can add additonally insured if requested for a nominal fee. (justgoogle it & look through the site...) Oh btw--don't have to be a clown.

If you do a keyword search for, "insurance", you will learn a ton from all the threads here. Smile I chose Summit America:

Equally important IMO is looking at protecting your personal assets by legally seperating yourself from your business. I did this by becoming a Limited Liability Corporation/LLC. Legal Zoom is a good place to check out competitive rates for LLC.

I'm with K & K, they offer individual insurance as opposed to group, and you can add additional insureds at no cost. You can also request Coverage Certificates for whatever event you're doing and they will send it to you at no additional charge. Also, coverage starts when you subscribe, unlike other insurances that have an enrollment period.

i was going to go with clown and have before..they are great and resonable. But then I check with my agent thru State Farm...it was $60 higher for the year..but ...and hopefully and most likely nothing will happen BUT..if it did..I thought I would like to be able to talk to my agent..so I went with State Farm...Hope that helps

Does state farm charge for extra certificates? And what category is your policy under? My SF agent wasn't sure he could even get a policy for me.
Thanks.

I checked with State Farm and I couldn't find a single agent that offered Small Business Coverage in my area! I read on here that one of our fellow face painters pays a $21/month premium with State Farm... It would've been nice to go with State Farm, but like Monna said, hopefully we never have to use our insurance!

I ended up with specialty ins co. They were awesome! I called Tues afternoon, overnighted my application Wed and was insured on Thursday.

Duck for cover didn't look like they offered insurance in USA. And my State Farm agent said I would probably be better off with any specialized agent.

Thank you all!!!

I am sooo very jealous!!! It is a super cool effect. Maybe someday I will be able to take classes other than online, but until I get more established I just can't afford it. And without sounding creepy, you are absolutely beautiful!
