Re: First attempt pics, and a thank you!
My family is very gossipy and they like to talk about others A LOT. I started to notice this as I got older. It's kind of sad.
I'm actually going to start my ceramics class tomorrow at school, I'm pretty excited! And I saw your calligraphy video on YT it's great! I wish I had calligraphy skills like yours. You've inspired me to check and see if they offer that class at my school.
You need to make more YT videos by the way, your tutorials are both entertaining and helpful! I watched through all of them when I found your channel.

I actually got busy for awhile and haven't had a chance....which is a good thing!
Re: First attempt pics, and a thank you!
Good luck to you, and keep going!
You might be surprised about how far you can go, and I would encourage you to keep the make up aspect going as well, along with the face painting. I worked as a make up artist for many years, and ran into male artists, some of them great, some of them not so great, but it did not always matter...women seemed to gravitate to the male artist and love to have a man's point of view!
Try the Ben Nye Lumiere powders and some of the Star Blend powders, if you were very handy with makeup, you will like these and can encorperate your own style of make up into the face painting. Try creating some elaborate side eye design, something that says "you" and offer it at your events. You will be very happy with the results! I still have trouble posting pics here, but one of my designs is not much more than dusting the gold power over both eyes, over one, under the other and inbetween like a mask, then adding blace swirls, eye liner, and white dots on the ends of the tear drops, and some gold liquid bling...I call it "golden eyes" and I do it at least once an hour at festivals. It is more glamor make up than face paint, or at least somewhere inbetween.
You can put your own twist on it and market yourself as something really special...because you will be! Don't worry too much about what anyone says.

Re: First attempt pics, and a thank you!
I want to say 19 is a great age to start at. There are many great face painters that started young(we have a young lady on here that started when she was 13 & is probably around 15 & has her own business!).
As far as being a face painting guy, my son dances ballet & let me tell you, he is very masculine & can run circles around the church kids when they play football for fun! Your family will get over it & praise you when they see what you can make face painting. Think of Mark Reid, Pashur, Clayton, Gary Cole, Brady, Nick & Brian Wolfe, & many more!
As for your designs, they are great & pass the "what is it test". I'll post a 1st tiger of mine(cringe)... yours is much better. A bit of advice on your next tiger is to pint all the stripes & your muzzle lines to the center of the eyes).
Happy painting!
