Hello in MN
So I've been reading this forum for a few months now and just finally registered. Have even made a few posts and figured I should introduce myself
I've been face painting for 3-4 years (not consecutively) and have just gotten back to it this summer out of economical and mental need. I would so much rather do this than work a cash register. I currently am a contractor with an entertainment company which is good for me since there are regular jobs to do. Doesn't always allow for the most flexibility on my part since I must abide by their rules and paint their designs but it has been a wonderful way to get started and get experience. I also work with some really fun people and get into pretty big venues and events.
I've mostly done cheek art with this company but since I have returned they have been doing more full faces and WOW it's different! But pretty fun! It's a new skill and I'm quickly becoming addicted
I'm thinking of trying to get some of my own gigs soon too but need to aquire a few more pieces for a decent set-up. Since I am unemployed right now (full time that is) and a mommy of a 1 yr old with another on the way this will be a slow process but I am learning a lot on these forums. Also have to make sure my contract is not a non-compete. Don't want to step on any toes or jeopardize my current job.
The most useful post on here I have found for now, btw, was the one suggestion to use a pool noodle for a brush holder. It's awesome and I stick it right on to my tray. No more lost brushes!
Thanks everyone and having fun reading all of your ideas and seeing your art!
