Extreme Halloween

Post by debranewmanart on Thu Aug 25, 2011 10:41 am

The thread about "evil" face paintings (lol) got me to thinking about Halloween. Thought I'd share my fave site. If you are into carving pumpkins, this is the site for you. Scroll down and check the menu for past winners in their yearly contest. Enjoy!

That is me and my daughter! Every year I try to theme my family to some horror concept. My daughter loves it my son wont have any part of it..lol We have scared adults and children alike. But in my neighborhood halloween is extreme some kid targeted some adult targeted I aim for the 12 and up age group and only the brave little kids will come up for candy..lol Here is a few more shots of my family for halloween... like I said its my christmas the budget goes out the window!..lol

We had a skeleton year too... can't find those pics though. This years theme... zombies! Yay!!

This was killer clown year at the end of the night so the makup was on its way out but still an okay shot I think:

lol Looks like fun!!! Halloween is usually a big deal around our house, too. But the schools put such a limit on what they can wear and since I can't afford more than 1 costume, they are usually stuck. But we are gonna try to make things a little more fun this year!

btw thanks for the link.

OMG... we dont really do the halloween thing here in Australia.. NOT like that anyway.. the big thing 4 us is to knock on the door and say trick or treat, get lollies and move on... But that would scAre the crap out of me. LOL Last year I had kids knock at the door and there was 2 little kids nice/cute and there dad.. stadnig ther like JASON with this big naughty word knife.. scared the hell out of me.. I was VERY quick to give them lollies so they could leave lol.

I've been known to cause three year olds to scream and terror and refuse the candy... I was a werewolf one Halloween and the little kids weren't "into it" IYKWIM

Another year I was a TMNT... that went over okay.

We don't decorate though... I'm usually trapped in my basement studio doing make-up by appointment so there's no time to bother.

Thank you for sharing!

I am so excited for Halloween! This is my first as a painter. But my MIL takes Halloween so seriously that it usually takes a couple WEEKS to put up all her decorations, and another week to take it down. Which we get to help with A LOT. I will have to dig pics and figure out how to post.

We start decorating October 1st we complete it usually a few days before halloween. Last year I started with bags of guts in the trees... just a clear cellophane bag with those gooey jello like worms and blood and a rubber heart etc and then red paint... has every kid on the way to school grossed out..lol Then I did bags of bones skulls with cheesecloth and blood drippings I hang them all from my big tree out front.... those took a day but it was homemade fun. We also took halloween masks put them on styrofoam heads and built spikes to do a lawn display dripped blood from them and barbedwire around them had all the neighbors stop and look. I love halloween it's my fave holiday of the year. In our neighborhood we have line ups to the doors and from the doors and the streets have mobs of people we have stilt walkers and police who monitor it all. They advertise the neighborhood on the radio and then vans pull up and drop kids off to trick or treat. We run out of candy fast. Last year I bought about 500 pieces and was out by 730pm. Its crazy here all my foreign exchange students are surprised how big halloween is here. Other neighbors have hydrolic pop up skulls when you walk up the walkway and some do dead corn stalk fences and blacklight the webbing... its just amazing here for halloween.
