Why use Starblends?

Starblends are what is called "pancake make-up".

It is a dry cake foundation that can be used wet or dry. If you use is wet you then have to keep using it wet as the water soaks in and it doesn't work as a dry cake powder anymore (unless you want to scrape off and waste a lot of it!)

Using it dry is like using a pressed powder or eyeshadow - apply with a buff/puff or foam applicator.

Wet is usually with a sponge and used as a base - it does NOT work for line work at all.

Traditionally they were used as foundations in theatre, etc. Mehron who makes Starblends puts them out in "fantasy" colours (as other brands do too now).

Many painters who work/live in hot humid climates say they like them as they can apply the powders dry and they stay on when people sweat...

Personally I don't like using them dry. I use the foundation shades for theatre work often, wet applied with a sponge, and buffed really well to even it out - usually to change people's skin colour to another ethnicity.

Some people love them... some don't. Depends on what you want to do with them.

They are great if you live in a humid client because they are less likely to bead up and melt off when the kids sweat. Some colors are better than others... I love the orange and pink. The white is not that great(in my opinion.)

I love starblends dry. I use foam applicator as sponges seam to make a mess.

I love Starblends for boys. They are always so squirmy and act like they are dying if you touch their eyes. I only use it dry and it's perfect for spiderman and venom. I use red, black, and white. It's so fast for full faces like these because you don't have to wait till the base is dry Here are two of my faces.
