Im back from dragoncon!!

Post by Taradoodles on Fri Sep 09, 2011 9:56 pm

thought I lost my voice did you? didnt miss me at all, eh? lol

im back from 5 happy days away and once my feet got on the ground here in erie, they took off running. I have had playdate after playdate, house meetings (we SOOO got it!!) packing and clown college. yes clown college, i signed up. looked like fun. =0) i got my face and outfit picked, i just need a name. thats the hard part.

I have loads of pics on my facebook page if you want to see it. there is only one thing i want to share here. i got my face painted for the fist time while at con. (least that i didnt do) and i was...disappointed to say the least. she used acrylics for the gold, and it HURT coming off. I couldnt believe it. I paid $30 for this face, is this what your $30 faces look like?
I mean, I like the swirls but being a painter myself I just expected...well,...more. Maybe Im just a tough critic.
had a gran time over all and looking forward to catching up!!

THAT was $30?

That wouldn't even make my Fast Faces display. And $5 would be more than adequate... if you got a balloon with it!

I got to get me a gig at DragonCon!

Friends don't let friends get painted with acrylics... Sad

But clown college sounds like fun!

I agree with Shannon, her name wasn't Marrus by chance was it? She is very flamboyant and sells art work as well? Just curious, I have made her acquaintance before at Ren Faires. If it is she.
Maybe the painter didn't want to take away from you pretty looks? Smile Seriously.
$30. wow!

Did you pay 30$ for that????? I mean that's not what I expect for a 30$ face... specially after seeing the wonderful bling masks around here for 15-20 $ !!!!!

Clown college sounds really funny!!!! clown

$30?! I didn't know acrylic paints cost that much? I would have held my hand up as I saw the acrylic coming at me & said, "What the _____ are you putting on me?!"
Honestly her swirls aren't bad... I bet she'd have done better w/ real paint.

Dragon Con is pretty big... Don't they have any real face & body artists there? That would be one worth traveling for... just saying...

Nah! Linda, you wouldn't fill in that blank. but yes I would have stopped her before it hit my skin too. I painted a full face skull on myself in acrylics once= ouch.

Was she Actually selling many faces at that price? I just can't imagine forking that out for a face paint of any kind- but then again I'm a cheap-skate! But This does have me thinking, maybe I can finance my trip to dragon con by painting while I'm there! hmmm.
Anyway, hope you had fun and will post some pics!

LOL well, you pegged her name.
Yes she was the only one there along with a lone henna painter. They both had lines!! first time I had ever heard of painters there and I been going 5 years now. I never thought about it really. Im bringing my paints next year for my friends, but Im not working otherwise!! I go to have fun!! lol
she painted a phoenix that looked pretty neat on a leg and got $50. I didnt think it was worth that, but obviously the client was blown away.
I didnt realize it was acrylic until AFTER she painted it. I was asking about her paints and the gold looked so good. Im still terribly new at all this was semi star struck to see a pro in action. i was sorely disappointed in face and pocket.

yes clown college is a blast!! terribly expensive to start, but i think its good for me. im so goofy anyways its a good fit. i was inspired by someone in the forum to sign up. =0) all my pics from dragoncon are on my facebook, look me up. tara stonestreet

I can belive $30 ...I have been humming and haring about a gamming convention I got an invite to be a stall holder, I know the organisers personally. either way, I didn't think there would be much call for it, but you have changed my mind. I still couldn't bring myself to charge $30 for any PPF though. at a convention.
Have fun at clown college jocolor

affraid you paid $30 for that!!!!! OMG Tara. On a positive note the colouring is very enhancing to your natural beauty. Acrylics ouch!!! Never had it on me nor ever painted with it on anyone's skin. That's just so wrong.
