Experience with Ben Nye Paints?
I use a lot of Ben Nye makeup when I'm doing theater/effects work. It's what I was trained with and like to work with. I know they have their own line of water-based face paints. The problem is I just can't find a lot of information about the products. I found the sparklingfaces two-part comparison video between magicakes and starblends but that's about it. Everything else I can find is just promo material for the Ben Nye magicakes line.
I guess I'm just looking for some opinions on the Ben Nye face painting products. Any opinions would help. How easily do they go on? How well do they blend? How long do they last? All that sort of stuff. I want to start playing around with a few different brands but can't really get a feel for magicakes without more information.

Re: Experience with Ben Nye Paints?
I am using a white paint cake from BN right now, can't say I am thrilled with it, as it has a different "feel" to it than the wolfe/dfx...kinda stiff, and not as smooth as Paradise. Decent coverage, though. Did not sell me on the line using it--but I think maybe if I only used that brand, I might adapt better to it.

Yep... it's a completely different animal than the more popular paints. I gobbles up water and it's tough to get a good consistency. I tried a few colors, and it did okay, but not worth the investment, IMHO.

So it sounds like the line is just a bit off from the other brands. I'd rather not fight with paint when trying to work. I think I'll be passing on these, then.

I use lots of Ben Nye theatrical stuff... creams, blood, etc. But the MagicCakes or whatever they call them are horrible. Can't get them to work up, can't load a sponge or brush, tried everything to get them "wet" and nothing worked. I traded them all away for glitter gels.
