Being Sponsored?
Hi everyone,
I have a gig on Halloween for my towns downtown trick-or-treat. They said that the spot is free for me, they also said that I could charge per face or the other option is they would find a sponsor for me. This is new for me, would it be better to get the sponsor or charge? the problem is everything else going on downtown that night is free. If I do get a sponsor should I charge my normal rate? I was going to stick to cheek art due to the volume of attendance.
Thanks
Michelle

Re: Being Sponsored?
If they've offered a sponsor, take it. Then you should be paid to be there and not have to charge people.
Re: Being Sponsored?
sponser, that way you know how much you are getting going in, in stead of the gamble of whatever you might/might not make.
Charge what you feel comfortable with, but remember...... next year if you do it again, they will ask for the same price. Dont low ball yourself.
Good luck and have fun

Re: Being Sponsored?
Sponsor....AND a tip jar. When people are getting free face painting, they ususally tip very well. I did an event this summer the business bureau paid us for the 10 hours. Plus, we each made $200 in tips in those 10 hours.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Re: Being Sponsored?
I made $300 in tips at that same event.... although I was twisting and it was a balloon festival....
I think a sponsor is a great idea... especially if they'll find one for you!

Re: Being Sponsored?
I not experienced but i would take the sponsor too. Keep in mind alot of kids are going to have costumes on and many of them might not want to face paint.

Re: Being Sponsored?
Ok I did not get a sponsor for it, they said I could charge per face. My problem is now what to charge when EVERY thing else is going to be free. My usual is $2 for cheek art and that is all I am going to be doing that night.

I have a sponsor at a event i go to once a month in the summer and fall. They pay me..I paint free...but i also have a tip jar out and make tips.it may only be 1 or 2 dollars a person...and sometimes none..but in the end i make pretty good for 3 hours. i love when it is a sponsor...if it is rainy...cold...slow...i still get paid!..
