Sometimes things just have a way of working themselves out...

Hi All!
Just wanted to share something cool that happened to me. I was facepainting at a local festival and the owner of Abrams came over to my tent. (Abrams is an entertainment/catering company that provided the rides and amusements for the festival that weekend). She said she just had to see who was painting all these faces. Anyway, she asked if I would be interested in traveling with them from time to time as a facepainter because they don't have one and she thinks the kids would really love it. For me, that was pretty big, because until this point I have been doing festivals and birthday parties here and there, but nothing really steady. My first gig with them is this weekend (although rain is in the forecast) in Virginia. Who knows where this may lead? Just wanted to share..

I think it's a wonderful opportunity. Even if you don't like it long term, it's a great way to get some quick exposure.

That sounds like it might be a great opportunity! I'm curious what they offered you as far as compensation? Are you doing it PPF & are they getting a cut? I've always wondered if something like that would be worthwhile(not that it would fit my life w/ 5 kids:-).

Hi guys! Thanks! The event actually went pretty well, but I have NEVER painted so many faces so fast! It was insane! I really got my speed down that day. I painted from 10:00am until 4:30pm, and it was NONSTOP...not even a bathroom break! They paid me by the hour and I thought they planned on selling tickets like they do for the rides, but they didn't. (They were paid a lump sum for all the "entertainment" and catering. I ran out of business cards, and have already gotten 8 calls as a result of that day, so all is well. I have another festival with them on the 1st but that will be a Pay Per Face event. Either way!
@ Shannon....a carny!? Those greasy folks that stand around smoking cigarettes? Nah....But it's an amusing thought, isn't it?

HaaHaa... They smoke more than cigarettes

I'm glad it went well & you'll be getting regular gigs! PPF will probably be better since it will help maintain your line.
