They will probably be ok, as the beer wouldn't have had that much of a chance to seep into the paint. Give them a wipe down and let them air dry in the sun for a little bit. I think yeast likes dark, moist places best to thrive so you will probably kill most of it by doing this. I hope the guy at least apologised to you. I would not have been happy. Mad

My vote is for having the company replace them. Especially, since they are offering. Beer is nasty and stinky, who knows how many of his nasty saliva germs were in there. I actually know of people that will have a chaw of tobacco in and be drinking at the same time! I'm sure they have some backwash in there. Ugggg! I bet you were mortified when it happened. affraid

I vote to have them replaced. Since we don't paint with beer, we can't say definitively what could or couldn't happen, but many of us DO know that beer is full of substances most mothers would rather you not paint their children with.

Send them a bill for all of the paints you would need to purchase to replace those splits and let it be a lesson to them about how they manage events where they serve alcohol. It will also teach them how to treat you and go a long way towards improving their perception of pro facepainters. I think if most of the ninnies knew how much our kits cost they'd rethink the way they approach us! Or not.

I asked for them to replace in an email and they replied:

Hi Suzy,

I got your e-mail and gave it to our controller. Our offer still stands to replace your damaged paint. Please let us know how much it is. Pam also has offered to put the replacements on the company credit card if it would prove difficult for you to fork out that much money from your own pocket and wait to be reimbursed from us.

Please let us know how you’d like to handle it. Again, we loved your work and do apologize for the spilt beer.

We are looking forward to seeing the pictures of the kids you painted!

YAY!! Great outcome Smile

I would go for it! What a great client! (And they get it as a write-off, I'm sure.) I like the idea of having practice paint!

I say have them replaced. Just think of the piece of mind you will have knowing that you are using fresh paint on your client, that won't smell like beer. You can always keep the old ones for practice ( that's if you find out they will be oky.)

Suzy, what a wonderful client to work for. I am so happy you will be able to replace those paints at no cost to you. Of course, it should be the beer-wielding klutz that pays for them, though! Boo to irresponsible drunks!!
