Fairy scrapbook stamps

Post by Denise Cold on Wed Jan 18, 2012 12:18 am

The friend fairies of Tink were on clearance at Joann's for $3.00. I was surprised how easy they were to color but I'd almost have to buy some tattoo inks to make it worth the time.

They are very cute though, might have to figure out how to Incorporate them into masks. Couldn't resist them. Maybe less "trouble" than with princesses?

Ooh, I love the fairies! So cute!

Do you colour them on the stamp or after you've stamped on the skin?

Wow! I'm suprised at how clear it comes out on the skin! I could just do it by hand, but I'm really curious on if this would be a neat addition and a speedy fun thing or something I want to impulse buy and then stick in the bottom of my fatmax! I WANT! LOL

I tried the color first by doing a light stamp and then re-stamping and it was a mess. As long as the paints aren't too wet, they stay between the lines pretty well...there must be some cohesion thing going on.

I don't know if it's going to be too practical for face painting but it was only $3.00 (down from $12...only $8.00 online) and they were so dang cute and remembered this thread and had to try it (so yes, impulse buy!) LOL!

She's very cute but now I want some tattoo inks so she'll hang around for a few days! I need a big PPF so I can get me some.

Sorry, my english isn't good enough to understand Embarassed
Did you make the stamps on the skin with facepaint? And you did just the lines with black and after that the colours?
Or all the colours on the stamp first and after that on the skin?!

Oh, Kim...I would but it was the last one!

L!zzie...they are clear rubber stamps (designed for paper) I just loaded it with a Snazaroo sponge and black. I misted the black cake once then rubbed it until it was dry (so the paint wouldn't be too wet) and then just swiped it across the stamp.

You just barely push it on the skin because you don't want to have excess paint from the edges of the stamp to get on the skin.

Then I just took a #1 brush and barely any water and got the colors and just colored like a coloring book. I had a hard time with the wings because I didn't want to smear the black but the rest colored really well.

I assume you could do this with any rubber stamp but these are just so cute and fit in with face painting.

Thank you Denise, now I get the picture! I've seen some really sweet clear stamps over here, so I'm going to give it a try!

Can anyone please tell me how to use the Disney stamps. ie: how to load my brush, or sponge etc.

Are we referring to clear stamps or is this a sponge type stamp?
Also, how do you get each area a diff color? you actually apply the paint to the stamp with a brush or what? Embarassed

Oh, I'm in so much trouble! Used to be a Scrapbooking/stamping consultant for a home party company. I have stamps coming out my eyeballs from those years! Gonna need a second bag if I start incorporating stamps!

I do agree with the others: be careful with the Disney copyrighted likenesses. Even painting superheroes and putting their names on my board makes me nervous these days! But the age group I normally paint is really into them, so I include them anyway. I will say, copyright lawsuits is explicitly NOT covered by my liability insurance, so if I got sued, I'd be in deep doo doo. Thank goodness all my property is in both my hubby and my names!

You would be a little bit safer, if you named hem differently on your board!
If children are puzzled just explain: yes dear, looks quite the same doesn't it!

I am always on the look out for these type of stamps... can't find them in AC Moore, Michael's or Hobby Lobby.

You probably cleaned them out Becky! LOL Laughing

No, mine are all from a company called "Close To My Heart". No craft store stamps here!

OMG! This is a great idea. I design stamps for a small company and they send me samples of my stamps. I have the sitting around, because I don't do any scrap booking. Does this work for rubber stamps and clear stamps? I have a bit of both that I designed. Need to get some cling foam on the back of those rubber stamps.
I don't have the skill with face painting to make the pretty fairy cats that I can do with ink and watercolor. Stamping would be so cool.
