18x24 Posters

Post by wmeventservices on Sat Oct 01, 2011 12:10 pm

Hey guys,

I'm not computer savy at all, but am needing to design an 18x24 poster. I've looked online but everything I find to help design one requires me to download a program. Are there any online user friendly poster templates that will allow me to download and save the finished product to my computer? I know a lot of you are able to get things like this done through gimp, but I haven't been able to figure that out yet.

Maybe it's cause I'm nt super-tech-savvy, but I just use whatever "Word" is on the computer...you can import picutres, change fonts, etc...and send it to Kinko/Fedex, or whoever to print & laminate for you...

Whitney, what graphics editing program do you use to edit your pictures? Couldn't you use the Vistaprint poster template and open it in that, then add your pics and text and such? I don't have gimp or photoshop, I use an ancient version of Paint Shop Pro and it worked fine for me to do that.

Wow! You are a genius! Lol! I didn't even think to save a vistaprint one. I figured their program wouldn't allow that, but it does. YAY! Thanks guys.
P.S. You can get $3 posters at www.shortrunposters.com

Ok, I just tried to place my order, but the resolution was too low from saving it off of vistaprint. Any other suggestions?

Do you have Gimp? open it. Go to File: New. Change Pixels to inches, and then plug in the size, 18x24. Then click Advanced Options at the bottom and increase your resolution. Then OK.

Thanks Sophie! I did that, but now what? I'm left with a blank page. It won't let me open the poster I've already designed in that window.

It wont? After you create the new blank page go to File: Open as Layers. Then open your other poster. If you need to change the size of the poster you uploaded, go to Layer:Scale layer. (not scale image) See if that works.
