I'm taking the plunge!

Post by wmeventservices on Tue Oct 04, 2011 8:47 pm

It's official! I'm putting together my first instructional video. It will be produced by a local production company and I'm super excited! But here's the big question. There are youtube videos and tons of other instructional videos so what is left to teach? What would you like to learn from yet another instructional video?

I would be interested in seeing some bling masks. Like step by step and that's sorta stuff.

That's just me though!

Well, good luck! Sounds exciting.

I don't watch videos so no suggestions from me.

I would like to see more that deal with technique, you just never know if you have been doing something in a way that could be better, or that if someone explained differently you might do better.

I always like it too, if a technique leads directly to a design that uses that technique. I tend to remember both that way!

I agree with the technique idea. All the videos say "sponge on the base" and show it quickly, but don't really explain how to get the base even. I have trouble with sponging butterflies. They always have spots round the eye that I just can't get right. Also, more detailed instructions on the split cakes and what brushes work best with what designs....things like that.

Again I agree TECHNIQUE would be very helpful... And as simple as loading the brush or sponge, and reloading... Im a novice, and what I notice most about helpful hints and youtube tutorials is they give you 80-90%, nothing is shown 100%.. When I am learning I want to know step by step, what should be used or is being used (brush size, etc).. I look forward to what you put out, keep us posted.. Thanks!

I'd like to see innovative designs for adults, with step by step. Things in the $20.00 and up range.

I would like to see info on the right products...brushes, sponges, etc. and yeah, how to load them correctly. I swear, online, they seem to never run out of paint with their fabulous lines, and I"m always reloading...I don't know if its my brush or what..is it ok to experiment with the brushes from say AC Moore and Micheals, or is there something magical about the Mark Reid brushes that they don't have??

The trouble with a lot of step by step stuff is that a lot of it can only come from practice.. learning how to load a sponge comes from feel so would be pretty hard to explain on a video tutorial.
Brush sizes and all that completely vary between users and even if they gave you every ounce of information you still aren't going to be able to create a complete replica without all the experience.

I am excited to see what you come up with as I am sure it will be great! I personally would love to learn more about body painting and composition.
