Post by saloner on Tue Oct 04, 2011 9:51 pm

I have gotten 90 hits from aslad.ask.com Anyone else getting this? I think it is a bot. Can anyone tell me what this is all about?

Have you googled it yourself to see what it is?

Check to see if they have links to your site. Someone may be using pics from your site on their site as a link.

a "hit" is any request made from your server. So, a page with 20 pictures would generate 21 "hits" every time someone access the page.

If someone has a picture from your site on their site, but instead of copying it and storing the copy on their server, they leave the link to your site, it would show as a "Hit". This is also stealing bandwidth, if it is the case.

That domain shows as a tracking system for Adsense. I am betting there is something in the code of your site that somehow refers to them, or it might be tied in to your guest books or some such.

Your site has all sorts of scripts and such running on it so is hard to tell. Also, these are the key words on your site: interior design, designer, interior design firm, residential, hospitality, model homes, zen, custom furnishings, custom fabrics, interior decor, upscale, decorate, color, decor, contemporary, timeless, show house, modern style

Not sure how they relate to face painting. So, there are some odd things going on behind the scenes of your site.

Might talk to your web person about redoing it in plain html and/ or CSS

It doesn't help that you are spelling the name differently each time above. Is it aslads.ask.com? This is a subdomain of ask.com and connected with something called 'Pure Leads' - itself being some kind of control technology for ASL (Ask Sponsored Listings).

Your clicks are from different sources but With PureLeads, all clicks are first sent to "aslads.ask.com" for evaluation (multiple traffic quality tests). As a result of their servers intercepting the clicks, your web server logs now will register "aslads.ask.com" as the source of all ASL clicks.

Probably as clear as mud now! But you DID ask! Hopefully you are aware of your connection with this - otherwise get your webmaster to check.

I don't know what it means either, but on my website, you can see who comes on your site. Well, this one thing alsad.ask.com came onto my site so many times, like one day 10 times then another day 8 times and so on.When I called my server he did a back up trace and it was some sort of site that I guess someone was typing in keywords and it was sending them to my site. They said it was nothing to worry about, so I guess I wont worry. You are funny Kat.

I tried to explain as simply as possible .... but if you get involvd with sponsored leads and listing sites ... the explanation of how stuff works will be complicated.

All you need to know is that these are NOT from one person (like you said) but from several different places (like I said) .... but they are all labelled as one site they go via (for some kind of verification).

That's all.

What you should be concerned about is why people are coming in numbers and why you are not converting them into warm leads or paid bookings!
