Help with running facepaints.

Post by rosecanino on Fri Oct 07, 2011 2:23 pm

I just got hired to paint a band for a masquerade ball they are performing at.
They said that they might sweat a bit, especially the drummer, as the night goes on.
I wonder if anyone has any suggestions for me on how to minimize or prevent the paint from running? Very Happy

YES a drummer is gonna sweat... ALOT

plus the lights.

I personally wash the skin first to remove oils and anything else residue.

Use a powder foundation as a base. (If you have them, try a base that is pancake powder. Starblend)

then at the end I use a fixer spray. I use Ben Nye Final Seal. (not for children and only if specially requested for adults)

Make sure they close their eyes when you spray it. Burns in the eye and will make them tear up...ruining the paint job.

Good luck.

the other option would be to get cream makeups and set them with baby powder instead of using water activated makeups... but it's an extra expense that you might not be able to make use of again.... unless you're a clown.

I was gonna say what Perry said. I did a demonic emblem across the chest of a bad guy wrestler one time before he went to the ring. Yeah it sweated off big time in a very short period of time.

I'm pretty sure the biggies, like KISS, are probably using clown makeup and not facepaint.

The plus side is, maybe they can make the running makeup work for their look. Even Gene Simmon's makeup is rubbish by the end of the concert.

I've painted bands (for video)..... sweat stop, cream makeup, powder, sealer, and still had to do a touch up at the 3 hour mark (it had to look the same throughout).
