Allstate Home Insurance cancelled venting

I received a notice from Allstate who I have had home insurance coverage with for 20 years and have never filed a claim. The notice says I have a home based business (face painting) and therefore they will not be renewing my home insurance coverage. WTH. I explain I have entertainers insurance coverage for that. Yet, they are not renewing and I have 60 days to find another insurer. Now founding out, they are finding all types of excuses for not renewing home owners insurance policy if you don't also have auto insurance with them. I was looking into adding auto insurance but now I'm just too angry at them for trying to force me too.

Find an entertainer who handles insurance as well!

Holy CRAPP!!! I'm so sorry this has happened to you!
I don't think I will have that problem, tho, because I went through my regular insurance carrier, who covers my homeowners, to underwrite my entertainers policy.
Boo On Allstate!

I had an issue with that back when I first started doing make-up. I had added my home based business to our homeowners policy, but, when it came up for renewal they decided airbrush make-up was "excessive risk" and wanted $3600/year... needless to say we made other arrangements.

I must have all my coverages (entertainers & auto) with them, at what ever monetary cost they say it will be, in order to use them. It's all or nothing for over 45,000 homeowners.

I'm afraid I have nothing good to say about AllState...the "good hands people" (NOT!) Friends were insured by AllState, had a house fire and what they went through to get any money out of them was like pulling teeth. Loopholes/excuses out were found everywhere. We used to have State Farm - they were great...now with RBC Insurance (had basement flooding and were treated 'Royally'! ...do they have those in the States?

I can say (a certain insurance company) are one of the worst companies ever. I asked if I should put in a claim for something & they told me no, that was not a claim but normal wear & tear on my home(roof issue after a hurricane). They then dropped me saying I was a liability for excessive claims on my property(but I never put in a claim, just called & asked a question). It was at the beginning of hurricane season & I had to get quick crappy state run insurance. Those "Good Hands" will slap you in the face when you're not looking. Sorry, don't want the company name to come-up w/ me & google since they sponsor one of my big events this month:-)
