You never know......
So I did this all day "expo" at one of the malls in the city (Syracuse) yesterday. It was a bust as far as me making any money. BUT... I managed to make several business contacts that may prove to be immeasurably helpful to me. A photographer who was interested in hooking up with me for a shoot turned out to be distantly related to me!!!! Also, a man who does THE most incredible work with styrofoam that you have ever seen in your life. The core is styrofoam and then he coats it with something that makes it look and feel like stonework. He does this on a large scale basis...like makes waterfall landscaping around pools. It is amazing. He is going to make me a customized "camp kitchen". I told him what I wanted/needed and he says he can do it. Due to a bum knee and heels spurs, I have to sit and paint. Commercial camp kitchen from Bass Pro Shops is too high for me.
Here are the design features I asked for and he says he can accommodate them all: large table that opens up where all my paints will stay in place when transporting, the inside lid will be for signage/price list, a swing out armrest for doing arm designs and glitter tattooing, assorted compartments for all the "little things", a paper towel dispenser, babywipe dispenser, hooks for things that hang (like my hand mirror), a water dispenser/disposal system (don't ask me how he'll do that!), storage space underneath, a place to insert my large beach-type umbrella and store it when not needed, retractable line traffic poles to keep customers in line(will work like a retractable measuring tape), two custom made chairs that will attach to the entire unit for transporting. The whole thing will be on wheels. This is amazing to me. In the summertime I paint at the local County Park any day I want to set up. I am under a beautiful Elm tree but still need the umbrella when the sun shifts. I only use my commercial pop-up canopy for other events that don't provide a tent for me. I will have everything I need in one unit on wheels that will be lightweight and easy for me to manage. This will weigh very little and I will be able to get it out of my car and put it back in all by myself.
Now, I told him that I didn't think I could afford him. He asked how much the Bass Pro Shops camp kitchen was and I told him about $130.00. He said he can make it for not much more than that. Is this not a face painting dream come true?!!!!! He is THE nicest man you would want to meet. I cannot wait!!!!! I will definitely share pictures on here for everyone. Who knows...maybe some of you will want to order one from him, too.

Wow, that sounds like an amazing deal for a table like that. Please psot pics when it's all done. If he had a good time doing it, perhaps he'll have a future in creating those products for the yearning FP community.
