Is it in bad taste.....

Post by MelodyFPL on Sat Oct 15, 2011 11:07 am

I have gotten a couple of good reviews on my online marketing sites, and I was wondering what you all thought of this. Is it in bad taste send clients an email like this?

Dear so-and-so,
Thank you so much for the opportunity to paint at your event last week. I had a wonderful time, and it was a joy to see all the smiling faces. If you have the time, or feel inclined, please feel free to write a brief review and rate me on [link to website]. Have a wonderful day, and I look forward to working with you again!

Regards,
The Face Paint Lady

What do you all think?

I e-mail & ask for a critique of how they could be better served...you may find that you ONLY get raves back, or blurbs you can use...

I'd leave off "If you have the time, or feel inclined". Just start with "Please feel free...." The sentence will then be grammatically correct and not awkward.

Embarassed I used to write for a couple of mags and things like that makes me nuts Embarassed

Go for it! You won't get what you don't ask for!

Sure, you could even leave them with a customer satisfaction survey at the end of your event, complete with SASE. People love being able to rate others! At the bottom leave space for a testimonial that you will use on promotional materials. I think I got my initial survey from Shannon?

I think it is essential to contact customers and clients immediately after any bookings. This should be part of your customer building program - turning them into valuable clients.

I would ask them for comments and tell them why. Remind them how useful the comments from others were to them when they booked you. I'd start by putting a few on that have been verbally said to you ... then build more into several specific places on your site as you get better and more etc.

I'd also NOT have these automatically online as it's asking for trouble (spam) and, although this can be overcome, it also puts barriers in the way of what must be a simple process. Besides ... the results should be edited and placed in a variety of places.

Sounds like great advice here. I was wondering about this very thing. Still waiting for feedback from several people, but hopefully, someone will come through.
