First time painting my own face: Koi Fish

Post by HazyDaze on Fri Oct 21, 2011 8:45 am

I'm posting this in the 'new to face painting' section because I'm relatively new to face painting~been face painting only for about a month~and though I've painted my kids and other kids' faces several times, this is my first time trying it on myself. (And line work isn't easy, but on my own face it's killer! How do you all do it!?)

Anyway, I figured I'd be posting pictures eventually, so why not start now? Here goes.... what do you think?

In case you can't tell, the fish's head is downward with his belly facing toward my nose. Only one of his eyes is showing.

That's his tail up on my forehead. The blue/white swirls were an after-thought, supposed to be reminiscent of water. I think I could do without them though.

Thanks for looking. cat

looks awesome. especially for your 1st time painting yourself. It is a task to learn but once you get it down. You will be your favorite canvas.

Thank you. I had been putting off trying to paint myself because I thought it would be really hard. It was tricky, but not nearly as bad as I had imagined it being.

Then my husband came home and he couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be, so.... Rolling Eyes Guess I need more practice, lol.

I don't know; I could tell what it was, and I think it's pretty awesome. I live the free-flowing swirls and the texture on the fish.

I love it! I really like how the fish looks like a tatto, and the subtle use of color on it. I like the swirls too, but think i might like it if most of those were black as well with the little pops of color - like on the fish.

I can't believe this is the first time painting yourself! It looks great! For some reason I have trouble with triangle type shapes on my self. I always want to do them upside down Sad lol

I don't like ot paint myself either. Some things just don't ever work. I like your fish though! Nice work!

Love the fish, and agree with Vickery about the swirls, they work...just needs a bit of tie-in with colors, like adding some grey/black/muting the blue.
Wish I could paint on my face like that!
