First sketch, tips welcome!

Post by l!zzie on Wed Oct 26, 2011 7:00 am

Okay, here it is! First design totally made by myself!
Got a request again for a belly and want to try my own designs now.
But.. this one's only existing on paper though... Do you think I can manage it on a belly or is it to detailed? Any tips to make it better?
Will the trees at the sides be " too black" ?

I'd love to see the final result. If you found a bigger belly, it would probably look even better on the belly than it does in the sketch.

I love the overall design but I think the fairy would be better kneeling and bending into the water or holding the frog rather than flat. Attaching a couple of ideas...

Thanks for all the advice, really welcome!
They haven't called back to confirm the belly paint (it's a babyshower) but I'm definately going to make this design!
Will try some pieces of it on my arm, just to see how it works out!
Will take pictures of that and post them here!

I really need some belly's...
Made some other designs, which are a combination of examples in my tattoo books and my own imagination...
But no belly's in the neighbourhood to paint!

Friday's the big day!
Going to make the first paid belly!
Made a sketch of a bear lying on a cloud. Bit of myself, the rest from the world wide web!
They love it, so this wil be the one to do! Although I'm not totally convinced by the swirls, maybe they turn out different.
I'm a bit nervous already....

Hmmm, hope you can see it...
They want the colours to be white, pink and maybe some lila/purple.
Think it's going to be cute!

That's a really lovely design. Hope you don't mind if I pop it in my inspire file? One day I may find a willing subject and your teddy design is perfect. Actually, if I had discovered face and body painting while I was pregnant, I would have chosen something like this as I wanted to name my baby Teddy. With a little family resistance, he was given the name Levi Ted, but I can call him whatever I please.

No, I don't mind! Please feel free to use it!
You are all inspiring me too, so we can learn from each other!
I'm making this one in girly colours, but heard that next week I'll be doing the same in boys colours! Another babyshower!

Well what an experience!!
Little bit nervous, but the bellypainting went very well...
But... Forgot my sketchbook!!! Had to make the design without my sketch. Turned out just fine, so that problem was solved. The light was very very bad... Way too dark, sometimes couldn't see what I was doing!
And, forgot my tablecloth (to lay on the floor) and sprinkled the whole floor with glitters!! Whoops... Embarassed
Everybody was very happy with the way it turned out, and that's the most important thing!

That is just adorable! I love how you incorporated the belly button as the bear's nose!
