One Stroke Holly Leaves???

Post by Smiletime on Fri Nov 04, 2011 5:28 pm

Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial for one stroke holly leaves? I want to do some designs for Christmas and every time I try to do a one stroke holly leaf it looks terrible. I'm sure there is some simple way to do it...I just haven't figured it out.

Look at Youtube, Vi from Sparkingfaces has one! I think she draws an arrow...I have to go back and look myself, it is time for holly leaves!

I'd use a small flat brush with light and dark green.

Make a line and put two or three lines across it. Fill it in with dark outside light green inside. Heather Banks does a different one on this video http://www.youtube.com/user/sillyheatherb?blend=1&ob=4#p/search/1/Wr6_xkxrlZQ

Or... you could check out your local library for one-stroke or decorative painting books...

Holly Leaves One-stroke

Post by Denise Cold on Thu Nov 17, 2011 3:41 am

I haven't done holiday designs yet so I worked on holly leaves and I think I came up with a fabulous way of doing them. I ended up making a leaf then following the shape of the leaf with the dark edge of the brush. Each scallop is a little "c" shape with a slight flick at the end to make the sharp point except when you get to the top you just wave the brush and twist to a point.

If I can get my daughter to sit still and stop being so responsible and working herself to death, I'll do a Youtube of a holly mask.

Here's the images and a mask I made with them. What I like about using the leaf shape first is that it helps to lay out and space the design and keep the leaves going in the right direction.

Flopsie, I saw that last year and forgot about it! Thanks for the link. I have a craft show in a couple of weeks...need to find my holly leaf groove byt then. Not sure how I am going to be feeling it this year!

Thanks face painting mom! I hope you can use it. I used to do them differently but they weren't consistent. Sometimes they'd look great and other times they'd look like a battle axe!

I'm excited about a holiday party I got invited to paint at. I'm thrilled to try out new designs.

Craft fairs are in full swing here. I love them! They are not as profitable as festivals, but I love being indoors and there is always awesome smelling foods nearby! Smile Plus, I get a lot of bookings once people see my work and the booth/table fee is very reasonable. The holly leaves and snowflakes were top requested designs last weekend.

I am in organization mode for my first craft show of the season tomorrow! I like chatting with future clients and love the bookings! Right now, I have stuff out everywhere, trying to clean, pack, re-tool from halloween to Christmas. I have been so lazy on my little post zombie break...time to get moving!
