Glitter Holographic or Iridescent?

Post by flopsietheclown on Sat Nov 05, 2011 12:12 am

I've mainly stuck to a few types of glitter for face painting. The other day I saw the most beautiful sparkly glitter used by another face painter. I don't know what she used but I want some.

Any ideas or suggestions about holographic or iridescent glitters?

The are pretty similar really.

Frankly, glitter is glitter to me. Opaque colours are best for glitter tatts, irridescent/holographic are better for dusting.

For specific projects I'll pick something specific but for regular face painting... I refill from my stash which is a wide assortment - some are labelled but a lot isn't.

I mainly use the iridescent when I have a big party or event. Sometimes if it is a bit slower I will use the individual colors that I had bought from Icing in the mall. I'm a bit bummed, though - I didn't see them on my last trip. maybe as we get closer to the holidays? BTW it is body and face glitter, so SAFE.

Jen, I love Icing! I will pick some up for you if I find it Smile I loved the neon rainbows you did at Oktoberfest with that glitter. Your work really stood out beautifully.

I have found some cosmetic glitter at the drugstore, Wet n Wild put all thier glitter eyshadow powder on clearance, then I had coupons from the store, so I bought all they had for pennies. I turned out to be really good for face painting, and it has lasted me since last spring, and I still have plenty in a poofer bottle. I think this one would be considered irridescent. I will look at the Icings here...good ideas for alternative buying!

I loved whatever Otter Girl was using because it took on the colors of the paint...It was pretty cool. Maybe she can tell us what kind it was.

When I started FPing I bought alllll these different glitter colors, then I realized the only one i ever use is iridescent pearl (or iridescent white). It goes well on any color of paint and gives a nice sparkle without looking all "thick". I was using Sally girl becase its cheap but I found a nice size tub of it in the makeup section of my local drugstore for $3 and bought it. I can't wait to order a 2 oz bag of it from Metina.... that oughtta last me a while!
