newbie from vegas

Post by vegas mom on Sun Nov 06, 2011 4:56 pm

Hi
wow I love your site here... I just want to paint my little girls face. She likes to be painted on almost a daily basis since she had her face done in disney.. I have tried Palmers face paints from Joanns and it stained her face and dried out. Then I bought some snaz online, it seems to wear off real fast and smear easily.. Would love to know what the better brands are out there and really not wanting to take any jobs away, oh and do you know of any pros is Las Vegas???? thanks

Welcome to the forum and have fun!

If you're looking for a paint with staying power - many of those will stain more easily than Snazaroo tends to. Snaz doesn't smear that easily - are you looking for water resistance? None of the water-activated brands will resist the most face-touchy little ones, unfortunately.

Definitely take a look through Metina's shop here. All the products there are going to easily suit your needs.

Welcome.

I use mostly snazaroo or starblends for children's bases, DFX or tag for line work.

I've bought some paradise paints but haven't really played with them much yet to figure out where I want to use them.

It's all about what suits your preferences!

Have fun Smile

Welcome to the forum. There's a face & body art convention in Vegas every year as well. The www.facepaintforumshop.com has a lot of great stuff, from books on face painting to supplies. The shipping is inexpensive & fast. The prices are very reasonable & Metina(the owner) is awesome & professional!

hi vegas mom...

i think the las vegas convention in march is about 300.00

but...looks like you can volunteer and go to all the classes for less
http://www.fpbaconvention.com/registration/volunteers-needed/

conventions are amazing!!
you will learn sooo much!! not only from the top fabp...but, also from all the wonderful painters that attend.

also, there is a vendor room...where you can try all the products before you buy.

i know it seems like a lot of money...but, you will learn so mch!!

good luck!!

You said hello to me in my introduction

Post by Valerie A on Fri Aug 17, 2012 10:32 pm

Hi Vegas Mom!
You said hello to me when I first introduced myself (introductions: hello from Oregon) and I posted back to you there, but it occured to me that you might never see what I wrote, so hopefully you will get a message telling you I've responded to you here....

This is what I said:
"Thank you Walela, Vegas Mom and Fesspenter for all the welcomes!

So many nice people here and I've learned soooo much in just a few days!

Vegas Mom, what are doing down in that God forsaken desert if you lived in beautiful Oregon?? I'm just ribbing you because I originally came from the Mojave Desert in Southern California...just outside Death Valley!! We moved to Oregon because we wanted our twins to have some grass to play in...and what did they do? find the first mole hill to play in the dirt!!! I love it here though! Thanks for the tip on Gilded Cat, I will look for her!"

thanks for the nice response... I truely miss the trees and all the water therre and the green grass, but then I remind myself that it takes a lot of rain to get that lush landscape and I really don't care for gray skies and bouts of rain that lasts for days... I did buy a condo in southern Utah where there are lots of trees and snow and I can visit when I get too hot here..lol Thanks again..Happy painting... Very Happy

You're up llate too...

Post by Valerie A on Sat Aug 18, 2012 2:12 am

I've been up for ages really looking this site over...and I have to be up about 4:30 tomorrow morning!!! But I'm learning sooooo much. (Love the "show me your flowers" thread....here if you never saw it before http://www.facepaintforum.com/t4400p435-show-me-your-flowers) If you like doing flowers it is an exceptional link.

I've come across posts from you from time to time and it looks like you really have gotten into painting...from starting with just your daughter! Good for you!
I have a niece that just moved to Henderson (from my 'old Mojave Desert' area) maybe you'll end up painting her kids sometime... Hope you get to get your "greenery fix" at your condo in Utah often! I can stand the rain (mostly, anyway What a Face ) but I hate the cold.

I did some face painting for some friends at a party the other night. Mostly kids, but some adults. I'm not very good yet (well I have a few nice ones, but not many) but it is so funny how HAPPY everyone is with my "attempts." That's a nice feeling cat (Just hope they never see the work by the talented artists on this site until I have more practice! affraid Ha ha!)
Best to you.

Can anyone tell me where I can buy face paint in Las Vegas? We are going down there in a month and I am thinking Vegas has got to be the best place to buy paint! Am I right?

Nope wrong!!! I just found one place in the last 2 weeks. Its Star costumes. They just started carrying the basic wolfe 2 weeks ago, limited paradise split, has tons of colors from Mehron and the lumineires. I dont use these except wolfe, so i wasnt paying much attention to others.. I did purshase a bruise wheel and some Ben Nye flesh tone colors. I had someone with me to tell me about these.. Havent used or tried them yet.. This is the only store I know of..
