I'm Having a Video DUH Moment...

OK, I'm so technically challenged some times... Can I use my webcam on my Netbook computer to film me doing a step-by-step? If so, How? What program? I can't even figure out how to take a picture with the dumb thing... All I've ever used it for is Skype...
