I (face)painted my daughter's hair pink, purple, blue and black for their school Crazy Hair Day. Even with hairspray it had transferred to her face and hands and clothes a bit by the end of the day. It would be fantastic for short or off the face hair, but hers was loose around her face.

Oh, and she had pink hairtips for days where it is sundamaged, but that's ok.I thought it looked nice. Very Happy

This sounds very interesting! If anyone tries, gets pics, please send. I am going to look this up! Just added feathers, as long as it is popular, I will ride a trend for a few bucks. Just got some today. My kids are circling the wagons...

Remember to check your states cosmetology laws. The fines can be stiff in some states. Here in Missouri the inspectors are out everywhere and I know it would be illegal here because it's not just clipping or tying something in the hair but applying a chemical to the hair.

That looks so cool! I have pastels just waiting around for something like this to come along. Now to find a willing test subject--er, model--among my kiddos... Twisted Evil

Pity you didn't get to try it out, Shannon. I bet it would have been great. Very Happy

I have one pic where you can see the coloured hair. I cropped it for privacy reasons. I did it with a sponge and rainbowcake. It isn't spectaculair but they like it very much to have some streaks of colour and glitter in their hair.

face paint doesn't last really long in hair, but I can't imagine that pastels would last a long time either... just like face painting, it is fleeting, but fun while it lasts.

I can't see how this would be done to dark hair. If the hair was dyed a lighter color then the hair would probably absorb the color of chalk pastels for a short period of time, but it seems like alot of bother for not much result. scratch

If the hair is really dark, I will pat on some white with a sponge, and then pat the next color over it. I have never used hairspray on it. It is a great idea, though. I have been doing this for the last 10 years at SickKids.
Wide orange streaks, edged with white, running lengthwise down the hair with black tiger streaks running horizontally is quite eye catching for tigers.
The Interferenz Copper and Gold looks amazing in hair.

Re: New Trend...Hair Chalking?

As soon as I read this I tried it on Hannah's hair. I have tons of pastels lying around. This is what I found about the oil pastels....the darker colors were ok, but it was a little bit of work getting them on her hair and her color is like a honey blonde color like mine. It didn't really look that great in my opinion.
We tried the chalk pastels instead and I think that they work much better. But, it is dust so, it came off of course everywhere. We sprayed it with freeze it. And that helped and it seems like it is not coming off on her clothes. I had her hair braided in little braids.
We do make over parties and do crazy hair styles, and I use temp spray. But, at the fairs, I use the regular face paints and they work fine. The Tag cakes work great. I had one lady at the fair get her hair painted to match her eye designs every day and the Magnolia cake was awesome in her her. It stayed until the next day, but it was much lighter. The DFX neons in the hair are AWESOME!

Lovin' those picture off of Pinterest, but not thinking it is something that will provide long (enough) lasting results to make money off of. Sad
